Bake my card in the oven?

Hey guys, I have an older GTX 260 PNY XLR8 card that just sort of died the other day.
It started giving me a RED screen and scrambled.
I tried it in 3 different pcs and it happens in all 3.
I ruled out heat, connections, software problems, driver problems and power supply.
I re-did the heat sink paste on the gpu using Artic Silver. I took off the cover and everything looks good using a powerful magnifying glass, no burned marks or anything.
I'm now wondering if a trace is bad???
So I want to try an cook the card in my wife's oven to re-flow the solder traces but I have never done that before.
What temperature would I do it at, and for how long?

Geez, it is a nice card for general purposes and I hate to toss it in the garbage if it can be fixed.
I think it's at least worth a try.

around 450 F usually only takes 5 to 10 minutes.

BE CAREFUL- you *can* have stuff fall off the card/shift around- make sure its flat and level.

Once your done baking, turn the oven off and don't touch it, let it all cool down before moving the card.

Thanks guys, for the info. I'm going to give it a try at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
I'll let you know what happens.

It take precise temps. Use a oven thermometer 395 for 10 min. Let it cool in the oven. Dont pull it out hot stuff will fall off

No it doesn't the solder melts at XXX if he goes over that its not going to do anything those PCB's and chips are rated a bit higher turned off than the solder.

Solder is a liquid and will move, Its the solder that holds the PCBs to the board. Just saying you dont want it in liquid form any longer than needed

8 minutes might not do the trick. If it doesn't, try another run, sometimes it helps.

Also, the card could be dying anyway. It fixed the 8800GT I had, but only for another two months, then it died permanentely.

I think I'll do as you suggest Frick, I'll give it another run, this time for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
I went 8 minutes the first time and it didn't help.
