Try installing previous drivers and see which one works best?

I would but supposedly 11.11c is the only driver which enables Skyrim to run on both GPU's. At least that's what they said in the release notes :ohwell:

I tried this out also with GPU-Z and it's the same. My GPU-2 remains 0% usage at low 157/300 clocks whereas my GPU-1 is 99% usage at 735/1010 normal clocks. So it's not MSI Afterburner freaking out.

On the other hand, Unigine heaven (and I tested a couple of other games) gives me good GPU usage from both GPU's, so at least it's not the card which went faulty..

does amd not have a way to create a custom crossfire profile like nvidia does for sli? It's been a long time since I've crossfired.

Yes I've been modding quite a bit... I've got a few retextures (water, landscapes, flora ...) 3d map and some more...

And I have solid 55-60FPS most of the time, but there are just those dang areas where it will drop down to 37fps or even lower (especially inside dungeons where there is water, and I have tried deleting my water mod, and that was not the culprit...)

You say I should be getting a solid 50FPS, but in theory, that is impossible... Everyone has situations "in-game" where the CPU is bottlenecking the performance (Especially if you have every setting maxed, and I mean "maxed" ... even further .ini tweaks with ugridstoload and so fourth...) Or at least, if you wanna prove your point, post a video of your game in whiterun, with everything maxed and walk around, I wanna see that solid 50FPS of yours... I have a very hard time believing it's even possible... also post a copy of your .ini files if possible, so I can compare your settings with mine...

To answer you question about "unlocking/shaders unlocking"... There is a VERY small increase in performance for me with shaders unlocked... I'd say you'll get about ~3 fps increase when maxed in games... You'll feel that performance increase when there's stuff like tessellation, bloom, ssao, LOD and the likes being performed in-game...

As for flashing with the 6970 bios onto the 6950 card... I've had both my cards flashed to "become" 6970s, and everything was stable for the 4 weeks that I've had this setup... And there a good perf. gain from the higher clocks, and believe it or not, from the diff vram timings (6970 bios) It feels like the faster speed (in the 6970 bios) helps the main clock speed (~950mhz for me) being stable and output stuff better... But after reading all the posting about how they're 2 diff. cards and how it's possible to fry the Vram when flashing the 6970 bios onto the 6950, I've decided to revert to "shaders unlock only"...

I can't pull my normal fps in either Whiterun or Riften due to installing the area specific high resolution mods their but other than that in those cities I average ~50 fps and nearly always pull 60 in dungeons though I have not installed any shadow mods or changed shadow settings, also I have not modded my .ini files yet at all.

I'm running the game @ max with most (if not every) retexture mod going. Solid 50fps impossible? Thats kinda cute for you to say that.

amd's drivers for this game just suck BP, theres not alot to gain,

Im going to be honest with you crossfire now scales for me but im still cpu limited to the point i have to be at max OC aka 4.4ghz just to get the 2 cards to outperform 1 card,

the 4gb exe dosent help the ATI fix only works for 11.11b drivers not 11.11c so that dosent help you either,

just chalk this up to console port and shoddy coding, theres not alot anyone can do about it.

you could try using radeon pro, and finding the 4gb exe and forcing it to run in oblivion compatibility mode, or AFR friendly try a bunch they work to varying degrees, but overall this game was a huge release, and AMD seriously botched it up, just as Nvidia botched the Dragon Age 2 release.

Guys IDK what is wrong with me but I'm losing my immersion that I've had with previoius Elder Scrolls games on SKYRIM!

I think it may be since it has the exact same feel as Oblivion, not look but feel. I really tore down oblivion so I think that may be it. :(

I don't think it has the same feel at all, the combat while simple is far more entertaining, the world has much more wow factor, and I think the UI is much better (I know some disagree). I just didn't like the font used in Oblivion, and the UI just seemed a bit too cheesy to me, with Skyrim I can barely tell it's there.

Yeah I agree there is new stuff but otherwise it still feels the same. Kind of like the COD comparison made here. I need a new engine else it feels the same, heck I guess I even mean to say looks the same, just new and better textures, places and people. The new tweaks were enough to keep me going for a while.

I'm hoping I'll manage to get over this rut. I'm still compelled to open up skyrim just that when I get it in, my sessions have been short.

Perhaps I should just take a few days gaming break and see if my Skyrim urge comes ba

I also expected skyrim to be EPICLY good looking, like DX11 Heaven benchmark with super hi res textures good looking. Once I found out it was pretty much the same engine my hopes and dreams slowly dwindled to what they are now. I guess I just had higher expectations :/ Like the jump we saw from Morrowind to Oblivion I felt that a jump like that from Oblivon would be epic, but all we got was a small step in graphics. Content wise is standard so that doesn't count. Stuff like new maps, places, people and features are a given! Of course new stuff like that is going to be in there, they should be! It's a new game after all, but the engine? I expected that to be so much more.

Skyrim modified for Kinect use. A bit basic and rough but as you can see it works. Now imagine if Bethesda did a proper job on Kinect, interesting idea.

Since the move came out I'v been longing for it to be in Oblivion and nearly expected it to be available with Skyrim.

But no.. It isn't like they are going to force players to use it, it should be an option though, it would blend so well.

Just saw the video, freaking awesome!

The PS3 Move to date is one of the biggest waste of $180 I've spent in a very long time. I bought it at release and Sony just isn't pushing enough quality games out the door. Mine collects dust.

Back on topic...

Consoles held this game back. the next ES title will be released on a new engine I'm sure. It will be targeted towards the new consoles.

TBH I'm still completely blown away by this title considering it's a DX9 game. They packed so much goodness and detail into this title. This is still IMO the best game to come out in years.

Kinect is coming out for Windows with a proper Windows SDK kit. I think if the option was there it would be amazing. To be able to actually shout. Making it mandatory would be wrong. These type of things are in early development in a couple years the integration will be better, you can see the video is a bit rough but sort of playable.

EDIT: The content is there and the graphics are decent enough. Probably one of the best games ive personally played.

Might be in 1st person, but I play 3rd person, and because of that, Oblivion was compete and utter garbage to me. Missing animations, bad animations, those just flat out killed that game for me. The difference just adding fluid animations has made makes me so happy. I know a lot of my friends mocked me for hating Oblivion, especially when the reason I gave them was that I like playing melee characters in 3rd person. But Skyrim came out with much improved animations and almost everyone mocking me is now playing in 3rd person, makes me laugh, get to rub it in their faces.

Exactly why a game like Skyrim should make use of it. I'm still hoping for an update to support it although I doubt it. At least I won't have to spend another 50 on it for the PS3.

Well I could totally see a mod being public for this and I'm sold on the Kinect for the PC. Combat was just so much more natural being able to switch like that and it took the fighting to a whole new level.

I hope the guy releases something for us.

kinect is coming out for windows with a proper windows sdk kit.

I haven't played Skyrim for extended periods of time in a few days due to the quest bugs.

When I played Oblivion, I did not have one quest bug issue.
I did not have a quest bug issue in Fallout 3 and I bought that on release date.

I can deal with minor graphic glitches and characters getting stuck in odd places after being killed, but when quests become bugged due to not giving me the next part of the quest line, it ruins my gaming experience.

i waited for skyrim not expecting any hardcore dx11 implementations and uber advanced tech like metro 2033/crysis 2 has so i guess im not really disappointed hehe. (including the bugs, i kinda expected that it would be still present considering bethesda's track record and the massive world it needs to sync in to) I had to backup my savegame folder since its several hundred saves now lol.

Seems like they did a good job on this but the keybinding is pissing me off no end and seems like i cannot get the favorite weapon to swap too :|.

Like why the fuck they released this game like this is just totally bullshit yet another company i have to watch out for. Shii they should of got this right from FO3 with the crappy E binding crap ( before they finally patched that shit ).

However games running maxed out with out issue, how ever i did change the AA to x4 as i could not see a difference in that and x8.
