I did a somewhat similar upgrade path as you, Alien, except I went from a single 4850 512mb to the 6870 1gb. You can definitely tell the difference, especially with that extra vram!

The problem there f22 is that coming from a dual gpu setup. Food for thought; gtx460 stock 720 core feels the saame as g92 gts sli (which is on par to your 4850s). 6850 is on par to a gtx460. Just mentioning it.

Woot! im able to get a 6870

if the Gigabyte is still there im grabbing that card, if not then the Sapphire dual fan is my next choice. Am selling my 4850s for $50 a piece shortly too

I am soooo happy with this card

BF3 runs all high with 2x MSAA and 4x AF @ a solid 60-70 fps.

6870 is a great card. I have an xfx one. Runs everything great on 1 monitor. However I will be looking to upgrade mine as it doesnt cut it for eyefinity.
