Well I have had Steam a while but I have always had a physical copy of the game. I finally bought something online with it. I don't think I will ever again. Last time I pay for a damn game 3 days to download 6GBs? Are you serious I have tried multiple servers, I have reset steam about a million times and am on the verge of saying fuck it.

WTF!?? I didn't pause shit you fucking POS software. All I want to do is download one fucking game and a product designed exactly for that cannot accomplish it? I could have downloaded this a dozen times on utorrent by now. This is a load of shit WTF Steam?

Calm down. These things happen usually when they have some sale action and many many people like you and me start downloading. As you may have noticed, there are 3-4 million users online at any given time so give them a break.

Why give them a break? It's a holiday sale there will be an increase in traffic increase the servers. 3 days and a 6GB download works out to 2kb/s thats horseshit holiday sale or not. I could average that on the worst torrent. People wonder why games are bootlegged? Its faster to download a torrent than steam. I mean WTF?

I can feel your pain, steam uninstalled my retail mw2 and it wouldn't install from the disk so I had to download the whole 25gb game off steams shitty 100kb aussie servers while my net is like 5MB p/s.

You need to cahgne the server that STEAM is using. It's not very smart about location awareness. Find a closer server, or try a differnt one, and you'll find you'll get faster downloads.

Even through this sale I've been getting 1.7 MB/s(my connection max), no problem, but I'm more to used to these sorts of things after using STEAM for like 5 years, and having purchased like 300 titles on it.

There's no need to give STEAM a break...give yourself a break, and change your STEAM settings. This really has NOTHING to do with the holiday sale. I downloaded 20GB of Rage yesterday or the day before in 1.5 hours, then 20 GB of other games in the smae time, no problem.

Getting over the payment page is a mission too, had to try like 30 times; trough steam, browser, gift, pp visa; all of that crap and the magic combination was paying with visa from the steam prog... lol

Dl speed is ok tho; around 750kbps (thats my max external speed)

So why not go and complain to Valve? What do you hope is going to be corrected by complaining about it here? I'm currently getting 3.5Mbps. Maybe the problem is on your end.

Seems like every time Steam has a sale, or a major TF2 update, these threads appear. I'm not here to flame the people who start them or anything, but I just think you are uninformed for the most part about what happens during peak events with Steam.

Any time a major holiday sale happens, or a major game patch is released, Steam gets slammed because people are buying and downloading their new games, or everybody's Steam clients are automatically updating at the same time. I have used Steam on a daily basis for years, and it's been worse since the Free to Play stuff started 6 months ago, but it's no new issue at all. It's irritating as a server administrator to have a TF2 update drop and my servers will not update for 1-2 hours after release due to the sheer amount of traffic. Different games also download at different speeds as well, I have noticed. I usually download at 5MB/s from Steam in the best case scenario (downloading multiple games at once). I can download low to medium popularity games individually at 2-5MB/s usually, but TES V: Skyrim which I was given 2 days ago downloaded at 200-500K.

Considering Steam offers unlimited redownloading/updating of games across 4 million+ clients while offering lots of games at 60-80% off during sales, as well as their content servers distributing on average 350,000-600,000 megabits of data per second, it's easy to see why things slow down. Add in the fact that Steam clients are always communicating with the Steam network even when idle (as evidenced by Steam freezing up in the middle of a text chat session or just randomly during network fluctuations) that's a lot of fucking bandwidth we're playing with for a company that has questionable revenue.

Closest server to me would be the middle east one and it is by far one of the worst. I have gone through about half of the servers on the list to no avail.

So why not go and complain to Valve? What do you hope is going to be corrected by complaining about it here? I'm currently getting 3.5Mbps. Maybe the problem is on your end.

I can still pull 1.5Mb/s but it kicks off all I get are 2-5 second blocks of connectivity on all servers. Torrents, streaming HD, TPU downloads all work fine. How can it be my end when Steam is the only issue? I wouldn't even be mad if it stayed connected and downloaded slow. At least then it wouldn't kick off so there is no chance to download at all. I am mad at the design not the lack of speed.

and torrents are still free. Maybe Steam should move to something similar.
