Mw3 Crash

There was the EXACT SAME PROBLEM on MW2, it was fixed by putting the textures to automatic, well I've done the same on MW3 and I get a crash saying DIRECTx had an unrecoverable error etc. It happens within 30 minutes-2 hours and theres many reports of it happening, so what settings must I change to stop it occuring like mw2? It's nothing to do with hardware as all crash fixes say it's to do with settings and I had the same problem with mw2 then making the textures automatic fixed it. So what to do?

Easy fix, just play bf3 and everything should run smooth. This is what google brought up.

Did you update your DX?

For me, had the same issue in cod4 and updating dx and pb fixed the crashes.

Also is mw3 the only game that crashes?

32 or 64 bit OS?

Currently 32 on my gaming rig, only using one card atm, no need for all three.

EDIT: Would you like a screenshot of what it says onto desktop, or you have the general jist?

These are some apparent fixes that work:

Set your MW3 texture quality to automatic.

or....

For XP
Right click on the desktop and choose "Preferences"
Select the "Options" tab
Click on the "Advanced" button
Choose the "Troubleshooting" tab
Lower the "Hardware acceleration" bar to "None"
Untick the selection box for "Activate combine writing"
Press "OK" and restart the computer

What the process is doing after this; is that DXDIAG is setting the DXDIAG settings to null.
Now do the same process again as told above, all the 7 steps.

When you have restarted the computer for the second time, now you shouldn't have any problems.

or....

Try downloading and installing DirectX 9.0c on your PC. It will not affect your DirectX 10/11, but it may assist with your issue as it installs DirectX files you may have.

or...

In Steam Games Library/right-click game/Properties/General/Set Launch Options/ put in -dx9 and that will make the game run in a more-compatible DirectX 9 mode.

32 bit would be why then. you're hitting the 2GB limit and its crashing. you should be able to test this by running it at lower res/settings (say, 1024x768 with low/medium textures and no AA) and seeing if it crashes.

they dont work, as you need video ram + system ram. no program can measure both. just do what you can to lower usage (lower res, no AA, lower textures)
