CM V6GT to Corsair H100

Hello TPU guys & gals, I need your advice on the CPU cooler. Is it worth to change from CM V6GT to Corsair H100? Thanks in advanced.

With 2500K? Not really...what are your load temps now? The H100 should improve upon those temps, but I dunno that it's anywhere near neccesary, or will affect overclocking ability.

Other than improving temps a bit, it will also mean less noise.
From what I have red those CM V6GTs can get rather noisy for what they are.

Idle is around 35c, load at 4.5ghz is around 68c.

Yup, it is quite noisy when under load.

Those temps are decent, but to remove noise, sure, it will be better. You could do with an H80 or H70 though, instead of H100.

Also not having the block of a cooler as most high performance aftermarket coolers are, you will have better case airflow.

So that's another thing to take into the equation.

No problem. You need about 150 W of cooling only, so there is a large selection of coolers on the market that can provide adequate temperatures, and very low noise. If noise if your main concern, you may want to consider something like the Noctua NH-D14, or NH-C14. From what I've seen, the D14 gets beaten by the H100 when both coolers have fans at maximum speed, but the D14 is quieter. I also think the D14 is cheaper, but if you have ram with tall heatspeaders, clearance may be an issue.

If you are running your 2500K @ 4.5 GHz if you are interested in reducing temps/noise from your cooler then you could try to go down to 4.4 GHz since from what I have seen the jump to 4.5 GHz produces much more heat/voltage consumption than the extra performance is worth. My temps on my 2600K with my V6GT running fairly quietly are around 55-60 under load @ 4.4.

OK. Will try it out and see the temp & noise.
