Is there any problem if I overclock my graphic card too much ?!

Hi EEEEEEE


I have BFG GT 220 1GB DDR2. So I overclock too too much

Core clock from 625MHz to 800MHz
Memory clock from 500MHz to 650MHz

before overclock

After overclock

before that overclock I change "heat skin"

BFG heat skin that built in the card is not good for overclock, because when I play games without overclock such as Crysis temperature was at max 67-69c. Other games less between 53c-62c

So I take it off and I put another one which is XFX HD 4670 DDR2 Then I overclock it


So I tried to play around 3-4 hours and temperature was at max 49c

That only when I play Crysis, other games less between 43c-47c

Fan speed 50 it's not change, just 50


Now my question is

Is there any problem with this overclock? I mean such as voltage ... etc.

temperature is very good about 49c. So is there any thing else

Does it BSOD, Artifact, or driver fail? If not then you should be fine.

Yes Every thing is Fine . When I play nothing crash or happen.

BSOD??!

When I was watch some photo cams a message that graphic card stop working, but that happen about 1 second and return without any frizzing or close my works
but i think that is not a problem because I have about 1000 driver in my PC.
and that problem cams as routine before overclock.

i think it is too much overclock of the memory.

Do benchmarks and see if it really makes SENSE to do extreme overclock. Search for a "sweet point" where performance is higher but no problems. Also check temperatures of course!

I do benchmarks by "MSI Kombustor"

temperatures Max 49c . Fan speed 50%


I have 5-6 FPS more
MIN= 19 ........ MAX= 26 ........ AVG= 23

but it's very good

I can play


- Cryiss on High ( except shadow medium ) 1366 * 768 smoothly
- BF : BC2 every thing max 1366 * 768 smoothly

and other games


but i am afraid if that good or not

If it's not showing wierd "artifacts" on screen or getting really hot (90C?) then you are fine.

also there is no artifacts showing on screen

Well, Mohammed is the most common name on the planet so I can't believe no one registered it here before 2012. I would not be surprised if there were a bunch of others with different spellings and with numbers but I'm not about to spend the time to look.

No most modern graphics cards are designed to run between 75 and 100C under heavy load. We will be using our brains as GPUs long before this thing were to die from voltage and heat.

Every card I had reaches 75 - 80c and that without overclocking!

With the exception of the 8800GT.... that used to reach 95c. And it's still running fine and subjected to heavy daily gaming in my brother's pc.

As long as you are not giving the card more voltage just continually bump it up. There is no way to damage the card at all if you do it through software as you can go into a Windows safe mode and remove the software utility, which would in turn remove the overclock.

No, I am using XFX heat skin on my BFG
but before that I used Arctic Silver 5 Thermal

because when I flashing my other ATI graphic card I saw there is different value under voltage value

for example: XFX Radeon 6850

So my card was 625MHz

now it's 800MHz, so may it need more voltage. but I don't know how to measure that
