AMD managed to just barely get the first graphics card in the generation of 28 nanometers before the end of the year and has had time to follow up with more models in lower price ranges. Despite this, there is silence from rival Nvidia.

In March, it may start to happen. Sources at Taiwanese manufacturers provide to Sweclockers that Nvidia is launching the new graphics processor GK104 sometime "after Cebit, but before April" - that is, in the period March 11 to 31. This circuit will be used for the graphics card GeForce GTX 670 Ti, which is the spiritual successor to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti.

The same sources state that Geforce GTX 670 Ti will perform "better than Geforce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 7950." However, it is coming GK100 is the real presents tooth circuit and also the model that will face the challenges of peak performance.

While rumors circulating online that talks about GK104 contains the entire 1536 CUDA cores, 128 texture units and 32 ROP: p There should be 2 GB of GDDR5 memory on 256-bit memory bus and clock frequencies are said to amount to 950 MHz GPU and 5.0 GHz memory.

Interesting naming scheme, 670 Ti? If this is true, and the price is competative, I'm sold :D

I wonder if this would be a "midrange" part, or are they taking the modeling scheme similar to AMD now, still waiting for more "reliable" info '__'

>45% improvement over 7970?

I'll believe it when I see it.

And the prices are downright insane.

Oh I'm sure the prices are accurate, I preordered my GTX 480 from EVGA and after tax and shipping it was $609. But I noticed that AMD/ATI's prices are slowly going up. Only time will tell but I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come!

When you consider what they offer for alleged performance, it's really not that insane. The GTX580 will still max any game, and it costs $450-550. Getting a card for just over $300 that offers the same performance would be a great deal. I refuse to believe the 660Ti will come with less VRAM than the GTX660 though, yet it keeps popping up. Why would Nvidia do that? It seems completely illogical to put less VRAM on higher end cards...

1000$ in US! In my country that would be 1300$ :nutkick::shadedshu

That's for a supposed dual-GPU "GTX690".

Not all that surprising really.

I'll just sit on my hands until I see what the cards actually do. I always had bad luck with ATI myself (not saying they're bad cards) and once I made the switch I've never really regretted it. I will never buy another GPU before I see stats from actual users again. Did that with my 480 and the 5 series came shortly after with improved performance and better temps.

1536 cores?

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out how the GK104 could have 1536 CUDA cores. It is roughly the size of HD7970, so it should have roughly the same amount of transistors (~4500M). The GTX 580 has 3000M transistors with 512 CUDA cores. Shouldn't this add up to GK104 having 768 cores? Has nvidia found some new design on their cores to fit the more tight or what's the deal with this?

I can't figure this out . Someone please explain this!

The cores are radically different from Fermi cores.

Each generation Nvidia seem to fit more cores (But less efficient cores) on the die.

A Fermi core is less powerful/efficient than a G92 (8800GT) Core or a GTX2xx Core for example.

i didn't know cuda cores are different than fermi cores. this is the first time i'm hearing this. ON nvidia website about tesla cards it still refers to them as cuda cores.

They are always called CUDA cores, they just function differently. Imagine they double up on them, but they are only 75% as powerful yet take up the same space\energy. Performance gains are still had, but not linearly.

I build PC's for a living at some place I don't wish to disclose! While I have not heard of the GTX 670ti's release date (If any) the GTX 680 (GK 104) Will paper launch this month ( with maybe a couple cards sold late in march) with a lot more cards available next month in April.
Because of NDA..... I won't disclose what day exactly(we have had reported to us by Nvidia Distributors). But I will tell you that The Cuda cores (1536) and the memory size (2Gb) that people have been speculating it will have is a really good and close guess (Wink Wink Nod Nod!) The performance of this card is very good in some things and looses to its competitors (Cough HD7970 and HD7950) in others.
I will say the people who bought the HD7970 and HD7950 don't count on the prices coming down all that much. It will be a slug fest especially when the higher cards release.
Last I will say that it is something like Nvidia has never done before.... and that we are all not used to.( in terms of design)
Whether you believe me or not .... I don't really give a shit. These are the facts....and I will be shown right again when the card releases. The GTX 680 will release soon!!! (With a Higher performer releasing much later)

I do want to add because it is the truth... While I have seen a couple of these cards plugged in and working.... I did not get to play with them at working because of how they were being shown.(Normally I get a chance to play with new product) So I am going by an engineers word in terms of only it's performance. (Not specs I have seen those first hand)
