Wasn't it the 7970 better in Crysis 2? Anyway, 3 monitor gaming is useless with just one high-end GPU.

I guess not .. at res above 1050p gtx680 is slightly better in Crysis 2 (TPU link)... with Crysis however that is not the case.. It can be said that Crysis is a bandwidth dependent game and the 680 cannot clearly better the 7970 with this game

but from what i have noticed across reviews 7970 has the lead particularly in AvP & Metro 2033

Metro 2033 is one of the only games that that truly benefits from 3GB, hence why the 7970 does well there. Take this for example, 1.5GB 580 Vs 3GB 580:

And AvP has always run better on AMD hardware anyway.

Thanks for the review it really helped me come to a conclusion on my next single card upgrade
