Hi

Open CCC in advanced mode/Gaming/3D Application Settings [Press "?"](top right hand side) this will open the help page for the 3D Application Settings and explain what they do; just pick a heading.

Note: you may have to experiment with these settings in game as hardware differs in most cases and what is good for one system may be poor for another.

Using Catalyst 11.10; CCC settings for my sytem are as follows:

AA [Auto]
Box
MF disabled
AF [Auto]
Tessellation [Use application settings]
Catalyst A.I [High Quality]
Serface Format Optimization [Enabled]
Mipmap Detail Level [performance]
Wait for vertical refresh [On,unless application specifies] = v-sync
OpenGL Settings [Triple buffering Enabled]

I then adjust these settings from within a game if it is supported; you may also want to take a look at third party support as in injectSMAA by mrhaandi this prog can be used to obtain good frame rates and quality in games that do not natively support AA; example: PC ported games that have been designed for consoles.

I also use a program; D3DOverdrive.exe to force v-sync in some games

I keep everything on default so that certain features don't have incompatability with certain games. If there is a game that I know can use something like super sampling AA, I'll use it for that particular game only. It doesn't make sense to adjust settings globally and never has with ATi cards.

xd yes , well my question is about the setting of the antiasing , the difference betwen standard and edge detected, i have read more time ago edge detected is much high quality but is possible see real visual difference? thanks xd

edge detected is best, because AA smooths out edges, thats it main purpose in life. so yes Edge Detecting is best.

The difference between Standard AA @ 8x and Edge detect AA @ 8x (24x) is approximately 49.8fps hit in performance Note: this will vary depending on what system hardware you run and is game dependent

Note: AA is not built in to some game engines and this is now being addressed by MLAA and FXAA filters. Unfortunatly this seems to be the only alternative to AA being put forward by AMD and Nvidia at this point in time; only time will tell.

Well one thing I would point out is to understand that the "High Quality" Texture Filtering setting turns off all game-specific "optimizations" which, generally-speaking, means higher image quality. However, some games have really excellent optimization and by using the Quality setting instead you can get much better performance out of a particularly demanding title at the sacrifice of very-little-to-no noticeable image quality. Depends on the game, though.
