sims 2 all of the sudden wont work right?

my GF loves sims 2, i know its old but she really loves it, today out of the blue its acting really odd. no driver updates have been done since the last time she played.

we have updated the driver today, updated directx as well.

her laptop uses intel HD3000(sandybridge onboard) and she has 8gb of ram with 512mb shared to gpu. before you go saying sims 2 needs a dedicated gpu i will say she has been playing sims2 for months on this laptop just fine

heres what its doing... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried running the game without any mods and without the save file to test if it's the only game with this issue?

I know Sims 2 runs fine with integrated graphics.
It is much more CPU bound and runs SM 2.0.

restore the video driver back, Use system restore

Try removing the sims 2 folder from the My Games folder in My Documents.
