Hi,
I found a site with a x1550 for $135 including post. So now all I need to know is the clear differences between it and my old 9800 pro. How much better is it?

TBH I wouldnt bother, you probably wont notice any change as the X1550 cards are crap :(

Have you seen the cpu mark thread?

dosnt matter, c2d is against a desgin thats years older then it, barcelona/agena/kuma/rana will be their proper equivlants, as tgm said, if intel can hold #1 once barcelona is out then they can say they have caught up, till then they are ahead in generations only.

its like comparing an amd 4x86 with a pentium or k5 to a pentium2 or k6-2 to a pentium3, diffrent generations of chip, years apart.

and why are u quoting my siggy?

and why are u miss quoting it?

Much like how Rick is trying compare the 7600 to a x1950? 7600 is much older than the x1950pro so there is no way that it could have the same performance. My friend has the 7600gt by itself (no SLI) and his average FPS in CS:S with everything turned down to the recommended settings is about 130. My x1950pro with the same settings gets 220+fps. Odd isn't it Rick?

But again... I'd suggest ponying up some extra cash and going for the x1650, since anything higher might bottleneck the card.

The 7600 will walk all over a 1650 though.

Even I know that a 1950 is better then a 7600....by far. Wouldn't it have to be like the cheapest a card that good has ever been when it was still newish? Because I know 9700 Pro's etc... were like $600 when they were new.

The 7600 will walk all over a 1650 though.

The 1650pro and the 7600 in most cases the 7600 will win.

The 1650XT on the other hand walks over the 7600 in most cases.

And 2 over clocked 1650xt's are still behind a single x1950pro 256mb version.

I'm looking to spend no more then $150 Australian dollars.(which probebly means second hand).If not juast 1 maybe a few card suggestion or mabey a list of all the ones nvidia or ati that are better then 9800 pro.
Thanks.

Well for $160us you can get a Sapphire x1950GT which is a under clocked x1950pro...
But I don't know what that would cost there, or any places that ship to there.. :(

i have seen people call the 8800 cards "best bang for the buck" cards and it makes me laugh, common now, bang for the buck the x1900gt/1950gt/pro are better bangs for the buck cards pure and simple.

Hi,
Yeah I agree with TK I think I will get the X1650 Pro with the big cooler thing if I can afford it or not if I can't. I won't be able to afford it for a while seeing as I bought a new board,ram and cpu. Can you over clock a integrated video card? I usually never over clock anything because it wares it out faster but for an integrated temporary video card I would like too.

Thats not a bad choice by all means, the x1650pro is a pretty decent all around card.

Josh, if your budget can extend to $AU160, you can get a HIS X1650XT from the link below:

The x800/850 are still faster then the x1600/1650. ATI took a step backwards with the 1000 series cards up untill the 1800s. I had an x700pro in my kids computer and replaced it with the x1600pro and might have noticed a 5% improvement.

Halflife2
x1600pro = 24 (500/784)
x850xt = 46 (520/1080)
x800gto= 29 (398/986)

3dmark06
x1600pro = 452
x850xt = 820
x800gto = 482

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102609R $89usd for an x800gto.

The 1000 series have the programable pixle shaders I believe. The games that use them won't run worth a damn on any of them till you get into the 1800xl and up. The bottom line is you get what you pay for. A few of us are hells bent on the x1950pro because it is THE biggest bang for the buck. I'm cheap too and that's the card I chose after much thought.

Someone is on drugs. XFX is by far one of the most expensive Nvidia brands, what currency are you talking about? If its AUD I would buy it too :p. The X1950PRO is the absolute best AGP GPU right now in terms of price and value. Its not crippled and its powerful, compare that to the 7800GS which is crippled and much more expensive.

EDIT: You got one yourself!

Had you looked on Newegg before you said (someone on drugs) there is a X F X 7600 GT for 179.00 with a rebate it's less than 150.00....but you didn't..i did

Anyhow, just for you information, the x1650pro is just a renamed and rebadged x1600xt and for a little bit more money. If you are going to get a x1650pro, just look for a x1600xt instead as they are cheaper. I once had two MSI x1600xt's in crossfire for an inexpensive gaming setup. I'd recommend that route if at all possible, otherwise you can probably find a single x1600xt for well under $100 USD (don't know the AUSD equiv).

Remember, a x1600xt > 7600GS but not quite up to par when paired against a 7600GT.

Your best bet and best bang for the buck though, that won't leave your pockets empty, is either the x1650xt's or a 7600GT. If you look hard enough, you can find them for less than $130 USD as well. Anything else is just unnecessary and ultimately going to cost you more money...

However.. X1650XT beats the X800. Josh that X1650XT is a TESTING SAMPLE, it has already been used before.

X1600PRO is already $105AUD, most families cannot afford to extend their budget. Think guys! You guys have a job, etc and won't worry BUT. This kid can't extend his budget.
