Important part highlighted

important part highlighteness > "ORB has just released final spec" ... "Previous rumors were true, according this data GTX 660 Ti will feature 6 SMX clusters, while GTX 670 will have 7 SMXs."...

ps these "speculations" are not new .. We’ve been seeing the same numbers for @ a couple months. I think with only 2 weeks away from "hopeful, speculated" launch they can hold a little weight at this point. lolz
Here's the ORB review which has specs for all 600 GPU it looks like and a picture of the GTX 660 TI PCB, which "could be" faked since no shroud or markings..
http://www.obr-hardware.com/2012/04/geforce-gtx-670660-ti-specs.html

I wouldn't discount it on face alone just because of "speculation" in the link title. lol Everything is speculation till release no matter how true it may be. Nobody wants’ to report the wrong info so it's a C.Y.A. maneuver... horah ?
lol

UPDATE: more links>> http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-...-cards--geforce-gtx-660-ti-and-670/15728.html

yet another site confirming/ "speculating" same figures. What's that make 4 now? (if you count the German review I posted in another thread > http://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.ph...-660-ti-dritter-gk104-ableger-in-planung.html)

Might want google translator for that one.

Specs of what ? the GTX 660 Ti or the GTX 670 ?
The 660 Ti is showing reports between $249.00 (recent speculations) and $319.00 (older ones) so do some better reading! lolz

See my link below
:)

Quote from review
"GeForce GTX 660 would be a different bird, with no less than whole GPC (Graphics Processing Cluster) disabled , resulting with 1152 CUDA codes. Memory bus would be cut to 192-bit, meaning again - the odd combination of either 768MB or 1.5GB. Given that it's 2012, we don't see anyone launching a product with 768MB of video memory. This part should go for $199-249, targeting AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Pitcairn GPUs)."

Isn't this thread about gtx 660ti?
$250 doesnt make sense in the current pricing scheme for a card that has 75% of the gtx680 processing power. These rumours comes probably from the same guys that said the gtx 670 will be $350.
Sub $300 market is reserved for gk 106 whenever that comes.

What makes sense is the price point is in competion with the 7800 and actually it makes perfect sense for Nvidia since the GTX 680 beats the 7970 at a lower price. If you do some actual review reading for Nvidia's strategies you'll see that they are going Big,better, less power hungery and cheaper on puropse .. their whole 600 series is designed to be a lot cheaper than AMDs 7000 counter parts.

It makes perfect sense for them to capture more of the market.

PS this quote comes from the latest GTX 670 review from Anandtech: "Like its predecessors, GTX 670 will fill in the obligatory role as a cheaper, slower, and less power-hungry version of NVIDIA’s leading video card."
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5818/nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-review-feat-evga/1

And the GTX 660 will be even further in the less is more direction.

Exactly, that's what i said... they want to capture more of the market.. = mo $$$ for them and decreasing power but still at a good margin and decreasing price over AMD = Increase in sales and profits. If they can produce a cheaper product, better and at a cheaper market price than the 7800s then common economic principles apply and they should sell more.

PSS... i was planing on $300 for a 448 core classified ultra anyways so $300 for the 660 TI will not be a boo whoo moment for me I'm sure. :)

PSss... May 10th has come and went so jokes on me :( guess OCUK was correct. bummer

Appears OCUK was right about no supply for vendors :/ sad.. we'll I'll wait, by then though it might be best to wait for GK 110 and hopefully IB-E with 40 PCI-E lanes and dual memory controllers ... :)

I think this thread has outlived its purpose when insults start flying everywhere.

Still looking forward to the 660Ti, positioning wise it looks like 570-580 levels depending on how aggressive they are, and what they are after. Price wise it looks like its going to compete against the 7870, since that Nvidia has nothing in that segment other than the soon going to be discontinued 580. Price? anywhere from $300 to about $370, again depending on what they are targeting. In short, you don't need to be a genius or have inside information once you know the performance and price of their top 2 cards, or indeed any 2 cards in the mid-high range.

The prices I "was" seeing on all the pre May 10th launch were suggesting @249.00 to 319.00 and that's from about 4-6 reviews I read starting in mid Feb. Since the cards not out we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping it follows the same suit where two GTX 560 Ti's beat the 580 for the same price but out performed the GTX 580 by @20-30%.

Looks like this was speculation ehh?

Indeed man, Nvidia has surely taken it's time to release their high end and looks like they are taking some more for the midrange.

I still think they are having yield issues. Makes sense with the whole "trickle release" of the 6 series.

Anyhoo, I wonder if NV will learn and make the 660 performance far away from the 670 to avoiding hurting sales?

I dont think so. I'm expecting the top 660 to be within 8-10% under the 670 both stock at 1080p. That would place it above a stock 7950.

660TI-1.5GB to 680 is like GTX460-768 to GTX560TI. only The TI was named x80 this time around and for that purpose heavily overvolted by 20%^2 and overclockerd 20% at the cost of 72% higher power consumption, totally insane. Hope that 660 remains at 1Ghz/1Volt/100W levels 72% of the 680.

I still think they are having yield issues. Makes sense with the whole "trickle release" of the 6 series.

Not at all. If they had yield issues they would have released the 670 at the same time as the 680 to maximize output and the 660 asap right after them. There's absolutely no sense in waiting if half or more of your chips have defects. If that was the case you would not have 680's to sell, which we know it's false because it's sold much more than AMD counterparts, by a factor of 3 actually. Also you would end up with a massive ammount of 670's and 660's in a warehouse waiting to be sold AFTER your competitor lowers their price and that's complete nonsense. You maximize output and profit always.

It's absolutely the opposite what is happening, so yields are good and there's no rush for them to purportedly cripple good chips in order to satisfy the lower price points.

I know this is an old post but I saw this quote and thought wtf?

The GTX 560TI does not beat a GTX 580 by anything.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_560_Ti/27.html

Maybe you meant it beats the GTX 460 by 20-30%

He's talking about SLI and 560 SLI does beat a single 580.

Anyhoo, I wonder if NV will learn and make the 660 performance far away from the 670 to avoiding hurting sales?

Yes I guess so, it's 192 bit for that purpose more than any other reason IMO. In another thread I especulated about the posibility of the 660(s) actually being based on the missing GK106 after all. Because rumors suggest that the 650 will be based on GK107 with GDDR5.

I speculated that such GK106 may have 6 SMX (1152 SP) and 192 bit, exactly like the supposedly crippled GK104. But instead of arranging them like in GK104, the SMX's would be arranged like in GK110, so it would be 2 blocks instead of the 4 in GK104. Geometry output would be half as much as GK104, but still more than GTX580 or HD7970, so no problem at all.

GK110 has 5 GPC. "My GK106" would have 2.

I even think that the confusion about 660 specs comes from this. Rumors state either 1152 SP or 1344 SP, and IMO this late in the game there should be no confusion about that. So IMO normal 660 and 660 Ti would be based on "my GK106", and there might be a 1344 SP 660 Ti, in the same fashion as there is a 560 Ti based on GF100.
