Hey! New to building PCs need help =)

Hey guys, recently i wanted to get a new pc mostly for gaming.
However, i decided to build my own and yeah i did my research, but i ain't that sure.
So i am here looking for some help, if the parts i'm getting are ok and such:

Again, is the first time i build a PC so be patient with me.

That's for a total of around $700 ($695, to be exact). I'm sorry to say this, but you haven't done enough research. At that budget you don't go for a $60+ case. That PSU is a bad one, since it's a "700W" PSU, not a 700W PSU. It could barely produce 500W. The hard-drive is too slow as a primary one, and there are better cards out there than the 6870. The AM3+ and FX-4100 is good, but not good when compared to Intel's equivalents (even though they have less cores). Only the RAM is good, albeit still expensive.

Thanks for the help! That's quite an upgrade, specially on the GPU. However, are you sure about that i3? isn't the fx4100 better? i'll use that pc just for gaming, so ...

You could save some money by checking newegg too. And if you buy your processor from microcenter in store you can get it for a ridiculously low price, sometimes as much as $50 BELOW the MSRP

In fact, you could get this computer using the aforementioned trick for just under your budget! You'd get a 7870 and front panel USB 3.0 Support. The HDD and case are honestly your needs/choice over a recommendation.

Like gopal said, that would be a really huge bottleneck, you don't go for a gpu like that with a processor like that however, i think i can manage myself to get an i5 2500k

and i believe that this gpu would be enough for a while.

Yeah, if you want to overclock on 1155, you'll need a "k" variant.

Like gopal said, that would be a really huge bottleneck, you don't go for a gpu like that with a processor like that however, i think i can manage myself to get an i5 2500k

Well then the 2500K is a useless expense. Not to mention that H67 wouldn't allow any overclocking anyway. Get a standard 2500 and save yourself a few more bucks.

Is it okay? The motherboard seems fine, 2x slots for ram dd3-1333 that goes up to 16gb (I'll just plain use 8gb (2x4) so i think it's okay) and it can even handle i7.

IMO the MB is definitely the weakest link in that build. The "H" series Intel chipsets are always geared more toward Home Theater simplicity than gaming. That chipset doesn't even support SATA 3 natively, so AsRock built-in support for it, and from what I'm reading it works so poorly some are using the SATA 2 ports instead. Something to keep in mind if you plan to eventually get a SATA 3 SSD. You're basically getting crippled SATA 3 support, and for all I know, the same could be true of it's USB 3 support. Furthermore "H" series MBs are not geared for OCing of CPU or Crossfire or SLI. Something to think about if you prefer the idea of upgrading vs replacing the whole MB.

Getting better I guess. The H67 MSI board you chose earlier was probably your best choice of the budget boards

As mentioned, getting a bit better than the AsRock, but it's still basically a MB built for HT. Any MicroATX MB with an HDMI port is basically. The HDMI port is pretty much useless unless you have a CPU with built-in graphics that you plan on using for HT or similar purposes. The B75 chipset supports SATA 3 natively, but it has only 1 SATA 3 port. That's not entirely bad though since a build like this wouldn't likely have more than one high speed SSD if ever. However the B75 chipset, like the H series, is not made for OCing. It also doesn't support Ivy bridge or SLI/Crossfire as an upgrade path.

Lets take a step back here vs continually shooting out ideas though, and pin down a few priorities.

Does the idea of OCing, Crossfire/SLI or native Ivy Bridge and SATA 3 SSD support even appeal to you, or would you rather just jump from budget board to budget board come time to upgrade and forget about all that? How pinned down are you in how much you can/want to spend on this rig on down the road?

As long as i'm able to run games on high, i'm cool. Not a big fan of Crossfire or SLI, they don't appeal me. I might upgrade to ivy bridge in a future, but not now and afaik Sata 3 is really good, so i'm trying to get one sata 3 hdd. Just one GPU and one HDD will be enough for me, and i don't want to overclock. Also, i'm trying to keep the budget under $700 if possible.
