now im playing the game and i set the fan speed to 80% which is max in MSI afterburner and the card temp stays at 67c during the game so far.

i turned off my heater and opened my room's door.

what about the throttling? doesnt gtx 670 get throttled at 70c temp?

For the 10th time in this thread alone...

Your cards temperature is FINE aka its good, no worries, ignore it.

yes once you hit 70c+ it'll drop the mhz 10 degrees till the temperature is below 70c. If you want your card to run at a constant speed keep it under 70c.

My GPU stats after playing Sleeping Dogs demo are as follows:

Max temp: 69c

Max Core clock: 1162mhz

Max memory clock: 3005mhz

Max Power: 115

fan speed: 80%

So those core and memory clocks showing as "max" are overclocked during the game?

because i didnt manually overclock anything.

Really, do yourself a favour and turn the AA in Sleeping Dogs down to High. You won't even notice a difference in image quality. You WILL notice your temps will be MUCH better and you will get higher framrates as a bonus.

Don't believe me? The 4 page THREAD on the official forum should be enough. It's not even limited to AMD/NV.

I ran the benchmark on Extreme just for kicks the FPS wasn't "bad" but the card touched 73 at oine point briefly. Fine for a benchmark but it's only going to go higher in any kind of long term gaming session(That is pretty easy to do..I am trying to stop myself from playing it, trying to stretch it out and enjoy it in small bites but it's hard to put down)

whats the difference between extreme AA and High AA anyway?

is Extreme AA like 8xAA or something?

As far as I know Extreme AA is 4xFXAA and 4xSSAA. SSAA(Super Sampling AA) is the most demanding AA going but it is also the best for IQ but of course at a cost.

High AA is using 4xFXAA and 2xSSAA.

Just doing a quick Google I came across THIS which had a pretty decent explanation of AA types and the Pros/Cons of each type.

wow. This kind of AA would be very demanding but the gtx 670 can handle it without any stuttering or lagging, etc....

I have formatted by hard drives and reinstalling Windows 7 64bit now from scratch. and then i will be installing full version of Sleeping Dogs.

I have 8GB of DDR3 ram and i5 2500k at 4.5ghz.

I would like to try Metro 2033 and see how my performance is different than the other benchmarks with 4xAA.

Maybe i would get better performance than the most people since i wouldnt have anything extra on my hard drive and my windows would be pretty new/clean and therefore more optimized. I will try and see :).

Hopefully I can max out (with 4xAA at 1920*1200) Metro 2033 just like Sleeping Dogs without any noticeable slowdowns....

Would be amazing ;).

INSTG8R: can you help me to gradually overclock my gtx 670? :)

This time overclocking an Nvidia card is complicated due to Power limit, memory offset, clock offset, voltage, etc...

not sure what to do :(.

Not much help to you there. I am on the "Red Team" Where I just set my clocks(1100/1500) and I'm done:cool: I don't envy you at all to have to deal with that "kettle of fish" that is NV's new "Boost" method.

When you get the full version of Sleeping Dogs you will have the benchmark available so you can really see how the differences in the settings affect your framerates vs image quality.

My "Maxed" with HIGH AA(and no blur..) Which is what I play on(VERY smoothly I might add)

The game running full on EXTREME

just for comparison.

Visually I don't see much difference at all but FPS and Temperatures definitely!

Agreed Cheesy999. My 680 is idling in the 30s and going up to 62 (68 one day actually doing summer) and I researched it and everything below 90 is of no concern at all. - Can be a little more noisy maybe? - But besides that no issues at all.
