Benchmark Scores Meh benchmarks.
i just cant understand, why they "developed" a chip that basically was already existant, for 3 more years...lol

I believe they get the older tech( higher than current nm ) cheaper.. I am sure i read a news post a while back saying so..

I thought the games sucked badly on the Nintendo wii however i thought the console it self was pretty good. They need more depth and quility in the games for kids that's for sure as they were way to easy.

Po-ta-toe, poh-tah-to.

i'm not looking for value.

I have a expensive PC. my Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce cost more than the Wii U!!! I have a home theater that is even more expensive. I don't care if SOC chips (Realtek, Sigma, etc) support 10-bit MKV because I don't watch anime.

the new Pro Controller is only $50. Wii games, remotes and nunchuks work with the Wii U. I can't even get a desk and proper chair for $600 :p

there will be first, second and third party exclusives both retail and on the eShop I won't be able to play anywhere else. this is how it's been since the Atari 2600. it's worth $350 to me.

ya they were missing the core console gamer market.

Notable Titles on the Wii- No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2, Muramasa: The Demon Blade.

You might Say Lolipop Chainsaw is the Spiritual Successor to that game.

I heard however another NMH might appear.

I honestly liked it when it first launched because of the tone it set, very fun hack n slash action, with anime style cliches(comical situations/perversion)- utilized the motion controls extremely well.

They are trying to finally Cater to the Core Gamers, not just the Kids ages 11 and below or Adults 40+

I wouldn't wet the papers just yet. When Nintendo has attempted to cater to core gamers in the past it has brought us censored versions. It is looking better with Wii U but if I see Aliens in Colonial Marines blowing kisses instead of eating faces...I don't even want to think about it *shudder*.

NMH wasnt censored otherwise no swearing or appendage/head cleaving would of been left in, not even the sexual innuendos

Just most 3rd parties seen how gimmicky the controls where, plus graphics were that of the GCs in due honesty, most 3rd party games would of had to be downgraded just to run and they werent going to risk spending money on such a console.

I think Ninja Gaiden III: Razors Edge (Wii U) is pending but I doubt it will get anything less than a M..

Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are the only fighting games I like. I never got into Tekken, Darkstalkers, King of Fighters, Virtua Fighter, Killer Instinct, BlazBlue, Dead or Alive. I did like the early Soul Calibur games tho.

Idk they seemed to simplify MVC/ Vs Series games, even powerstone got that change. Give me P and K Buttons again honestly.

DarkStalkers/SF Alpha are pretty much the same.

VF I Liked because of difficulty especially learning certain moves.

Benchmark Scores Benching is for bitches.

Its not. Its 25GB. Its a Blu-Ray disk with a custom DRM. It will not play Blu-Ray disks but it is Blu-Ray.

Panasonic is part of the Blu-ray forum so it'll be a blu-ray-but-not-blu-ray disc if that makes sense. Nintendo doesn't need a blu-ray license as it won't play blu-ray discs and more likely than not will use a different format structure (meaning it won't be an AVCREC, RE, R, or ROM disc and as such not subject to a license).

This. Unless Bumblebee believes Panasonic was able to create a special high capacity disk thats going to be exclusive to the WiiU that happens to be 25GB. lol No its a Blu-Ray.

And TBH console graphics are always sub-par in the last decade or so. ;)
People buys consoles because they just need to turn on the machine and it plays, or use it as a blu-ray player in the case of the PS3.

Thats just it, these days it doesn't just turn on and play. I enjoy that sometimes though, so I rarely play my PS3 unless its a game I was looking forward to.

But every time I turn on my PS3 I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour to play, and this is with a fairly good internet connection.

Maybe I should just keep them unplugged from the internet, and miss all the glorious updates.

@Mailman: 5560/5670 was the disappointment. I guess I can hope for atleast an x850/70, but I sure the hell will never get it.

These are indeed good news. Modern tech, not uber powerful, but it's from the present, not from the past. That will make porting one hundred times easier and that GPU is a huge improvement from current consoles PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of brute force.
Remember that 360 is based on HD 2000 series architecture but with X1900XT performance. After that came HD2000, 3000, 4000 and then 5000.

While Xenos is 240:16:8@500 Mhz with only 512MB GDDR3 shared with 10MB of eDRAM, the HD5670 is 400:20:8@750 Mhz and the Wii U will have 1 GB of RAM dedicated to games and 1 GB for system memory (probably 2 GB GDDR5 shared) along with 32MB of eDRAM. Add to that some extra features from newer generations of GPU (improved fab process, higher clock speeds, etc.) and you get a good rounded GPU. Both GPUs are VLIW5 so they're easy to compare and see the extra performance.

And if the Wii U allows playing games without installing software, that's just great. I heard PS3 install times are painful even in comparison with PC.
Ah, and you can connect an external HDD.

Of course, although Wii U is better than X360 and PS3, current PC technology is much better. Current AMD generation GPUs have up to 2048 shaders, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs (2048:128:32) along with improved efficiency, so if Microsoft and Sony decide to put something like that they'll have a lot of extra horse power in comparison with Wii U, but hey, Wii U will still be able to play same games, only with less effects, if developers decide to make multiplatform games for Wii U too. Unreal Engine 4 AFAIK has been tailored to be fully scalable, like CryEngine 3 which currently works on crappy hardware from PS3 and Xbox 360 and also can deploy advanced effects in PC.

Finally, we are talking about TDP, but not consumption, so it could be even an HD5770 equivalent with 800 shaders, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs that has a bandwidth of 76.8 GB/s, nearly the same the web source says (75GB/s).

EDIT: Confused SIMD units (the SPUs) with the individual units (SPs, shaders) of the Xenos.

with my pc i have to wait 30-60 seconds from the push off the power button to play games with or without internet

You missed the original point:

The context of the conversation was that sometimes we like to get away from the PC and move to a console, where the push of a button starts our favorite games.

That was the allure of consoles.

The other day I turned on my Sega Saturn to play some Tomb Raider, and was surprised to be playing within 60 seconds. I don't get much time to play games these days, so this is important for me. I have a family and work 10 hours a day as a database administrator, while also still going to school to get ywr another degree.

While Xenos is 48:16:8@500 Mhz with only 512MB GDDR3 shared with 10MB of eDRAM, the HD5670 is 400:20:8@750 Mhz and the Wii U will have 1 GB of RAM dedicated to games and 1 GB for system memory (probably 2 GB GDDR5 shared) along with 32MB of eDRAM. Add to that some extra features from newer generations of GPU (improved fab process, higher clock speeds, etc.) and you get a good rounded GPU. Both GPUs are VLIW5 so they're easy to compare and see the extra performance.

The 360 was not based off the Radeon HD 2K line(AMD were still releasing the X1800's when it launched), the Radeon HD 2k line was based off the 360 GPU development, its a X19XX GPU with modifications, A alpha version of the HD GPU's in a way.

The GPU isn't really comparable to PC equivalents as its a custom GPU like the 360's which has come a long way and games on the WiiU GPU will be optimized much more heavily than PC GPU's, as is the PS3's and 360's, no matter how much power you have with a PC if games aren't optimized you might as well be running hardware 5 years old and some game for PC are so horribly optimized now its sad and its because the 360 and PS3 are based on old hardware, since the WiiU is going to be based on newer stuff maybe some devs will push some of them our way . . . . . .
