What's wrong with the laser of my mouse?

It's a Lachesis. Lately the pointer would kind of lag instead of move smoothly. Like when I move the pointer from one side to another of the monitor at one go it stops at 2 or 3 places for a fraction of a second.

If I wipe the sensor with a tissue the problem is solved. But it happens again within 20-30 minutes! :confused:

What could be happening? It makes no sense that the sensor is getting so dirty all the time, within such a small time-frame.

Yes, with having to 'clean' it every 30 minutes or so.

And if I plug in another mouse in this machine any other mouse works fine.

Was doing some googling earlier and similar cases show that the laser maybe going out and when you "clean" it, it just kinda resets the surface until it glitches again.

I have had the same problem with that mouse its just getting old imo. I have had like 3 razer mice give out on me in one way or another. I like the mice they make but they dont last.

Clean off the mouse pad and blow out the mouse.

could always try a piece of cardboard, or anything really to mouse on and see if the mat is what is causing the issue.

Also have you looked for any firmware updates for the mouse?

Blow it out with a can of compressed air. Could be a lil' hair stuck on the lense or something.

What gutter? I really thought you meant I should dimantle the mouse or whatever

I find it difficult to dismantle something if it looks sealed without any screws. (Don't get that wrong).

UPDATE:

If I unplug and replug the USB of the mouse it has the same effect as wiping the sensor with a tissue i.e. t starts working fine for the next 30 mins.

^^ got a point there. The connector inside the mouse were the wire comes out of maybe getting loose and when you move the mouse it connects and disconnects?

Because the problem is eerily similar to a friend's. Albeit it's not exactly a mouse as expensive as the Lachesis. He instead rewired/resoldered things just where the wires are coming out of the PCB. He did that because he was bored LOL. He already bought a new mouse to replace it beforehand.

Its a known defect. I had one and it started to act that way within 3 weeks. I returned that sucker right back to where I bought it. Also I had the 4000 dpi one, I don't think the 5600 dpi had this problem or it wasn't common

pretty sure its some sort of a software glitch.

try uninstalling the mouse from the device manager and then plugging it out and back in again.
