More first-time builder hardware questions

Guys, i'm planning my first build and i need some info. Can someone tell me what the diffence is between OEM and Retail versions of processors and hard drives?

OEM usually have a lower manufacture warrenty and little to no technical support. Also OEM does not come with any manuals and accessories.

so oem processor=no heatsink/fan
oem hdd=no sata/ata cables
dvd drive=same^^^^^^^^

etc.

tbh i normally buy oem hdd's dvd-rw's etc as i normally have cables lying around all the time or just use the ones that come with the motherboard, as far as the processor goes unless your planning on buying aftermarket cooling straight away get the retail as theres only £5 difference anyway.

I see, i just want to clear up what you mean by accessories, like will OEM have all neccesary wires and connectors to put it in? And also Do OEM processors come with stock CPU cooler?

OEM or Original Equipment Manufacture(r) is basically what they sell to pc companies (for cheaper pcs). Its basically just the main item with nothing else extra. In Procs, you get just the proc. Not the HSF with thermal pad or grease that comes with it. With DVDRW/CDRW you get just the drive with the jumper setting on it (if its IDE). Thats it, no cables, no software cd, or extra anything. With HDDs, its just the HDD, no cables or driver cds or anything. Now, with VGA cards, I Think they come with the card and some even come with the driver cd, but no extra cables or anything. Im not sure on the warranty but I Think it might be like slightly less that standard. Say, instead of a 3 year warranty from purchase on HDDs, you get maybe a 2 year warranty from DOP. I hope this helps you out.
