Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 Bios 2.30

Just today I flashed my mobo to the 2.30 Bios and voila buggy as hell. I was running fine on 2.20 but noticed that my voltages were a tiny bit off and since Ivy runs so hot I'm always on the lookout for anything that helps me get my temps down. This bios says that it modifies cpu loadline calibration voltages. I thought that it would normalize my voltages further and nothing could have been farther from the truth. It just made my whole pc unstable. This sucks I just had to flash back to 2.20. Everyone that is having problems with the new boards that come with the 2.30 bios should flash to 2.20 and most problems would go away.

Dude, c'mon I wouldn't even be complaining if I didn't try. Levels 1 through 5 and back again and no joy. Stock it works fine but oc its kinda lame. I compensated for the lower voltages and changed all settings and it didn't even work with the original overclock that I had running for a couple of months. I started to think that I had broken it and then flashed back to 2.20 and I'm running again stable but a little hot.

I changed no more settings that I had on my previous BIOS, but get these results. My computer overall felt really slow after updating, so I went back to 2.0, as even 2.1 and 2.2 gave me similar results. Any tips? I would like to have the Windows 8 improvements in the more current updates.

As far as I know 2.20 is the last stable BIOS. I think that as for Windows 8 implementation 2.20 has Super fast boot or something. You have to understand that this board (even though I think is ones of the best around) is a little cheap on voltage regulation because I've seen fluctuations all the time even if it is stable. What I managed to gather is that when it is stable is when fluctuations are at a minimum. Anyway what are your final settings?

I'm at work now, unable to provide all my settings, but I am fairly new to tweaking the BIOS, and I'd greatly appreciate some guidance to some of the settings. Off the top of my head, some of the C3/C6 State settings I had no idea what to do with, and a few others.

Also, what is the best way to go about updating my BIOS? Should I "clean" anything up before hand, as I have moved between versions recently to see what was stable. I might go back to 2.20 just to see. And regarding what you said about heat, I'm running an i5 3570k Ivy, and my temps went up a little with versions higher than 2.0. Sorry for the novel, I'm just paranoid I'm missing something essential to having my BIOS set up correctly

The best way its worked for me is offset cpu vcore and all c states disabled. As for the bios I've been upgrading through internet and haven't lost a finger yet.

I think this might get you going. I have been dealing with this ASROCK boards from P67 and all of them overclock almost the same although Sandy overclocked much better and cooler but they are all nice cheap boards that actually reach the same level of way more expensive boards. is it really possible to undo the 2.30 install? I read in another forum that you need to request intel another chip in order to downgrade.

That is totally false because I flashed to 2.30 and like an hour later I flashed back to 2.20. A couple of days later I flashed back to 2.30 just for the sake of experimentation. I have kept it at 2.30 even though its a little tougher to get stability but I'm just testing the changes in my free time.

Sorry for the rant. to flash back just format a flashdrive into fat32, put the 2.20 or any other rom into it and reboot with the flash drive attached to any usb port then run ez flash and choose the location of the rom and flash.
