Or you can go to Ninite.com after you do a fresh installation and include Classic Shell as one of your downloads. Ninite should be every respectable system builder's priority after the OS installation anyway, and an extra click to check off the box for Classic Shell won't kill.

Or Windows can go by all the negative response its gotten from the public and implement it back into windows? Thats the point im getting across here, if it doesn't have it out of the box then that in itself is a problem.

If you don't listen to your consumer then your going to fail, that's just how business works.

So when they implement it back into the OS, ill be happy to use it and going by the poll^ so will a lot of others.

Too bad that poll's primary demographic consists of the minority. It's about as right as a FOX election poll hosted and surveyed on their own website.

Then people should stop bitching about getting shit they don't want if they keep buying it lol.

I haven't heard anyone outside of people with limited knowledge (some knowledge versus none) bitch about Windows 8. I haven't seen the Metro UI since the second day I installed Windows 8. Why should I let about 3 seconds of inconvenience deter me from upgrading?

Tell me then, do you leave User Account Control on? Because the moment that shit pops up after a new installation, I disable it. That takes more time than it does to check off Classic Shell on Ninite, and it's been around since the much vilified Vista. Microsoft hasn't changed it, so why aren't you on Windows XP?

UAC control is built into the OS. Classic Shell is not. I'm with him, I'm not going to use third party shells to get what I want for my interface. I don't use anything like that at all. It's just another possible conflict point.

I'll switch to 8 when they bring back the normal desktop and start menu option, tweak the start screen to allow some sort of folder or details view and more customization, or good and affordable multitouch add ons become available for existing screens.

One reason i will never buy Win8 as it seems like MS are trying to force the Metro crap on to people..

Sure you can disable it by using a 3rd party app but why the hell should you have to as you even said you were able to disable it before..

Finally someone that has said it how it is.

Windows 95 bought the start menu - some dos modes and other stuff I cannot remember.
Windows 98 bought fat 32 and better networking
Windows ME was a steaming pile of crap for people who had no idea it may have looked better but performed worse.
Windows XP bought SMP more memory and upto DX 9 - 64bit verison sucks
Windows Vista was a steaming pile of crap, bought DX 10 to the table.
Windows 7 was awesome support for more memory DX 10
Windows 8 - no start bar and brings .... Nothing new. Except for one of the gayest Gui's ever.

Metro is being forced upon people who want to use windows 8...

So to me MS can shove there super duper OS up their asses how ever how well it is doing until they start listening to what people want and give us easy ways to pick what WE WANT not what they want..

Buying Win 8 would only say i am ok with metro when really it's not so..

Agreed. I installed it used it for a few days and hated it.
Reminds me of windows ME a steaming pile of crap.
No idea what drugs MS are smoking when the introduced metro sexual interface.

Besides running Mirco$oft Operating systems Ive run linux for years.
I loved Ubuntu until.. unity another piece of crap gui. Although now I run Lubuntu uses LXDE pretty much a basic gui. Metro is the same as unity. IMO a crapy GUI.

I know there are some fanbois out there but
the first thing I do when windows 7 is installed is turn off areo.
I really don't give 2 flying F...s about what the gui looks like just as long as I can run games and programs.

Really get some patience its a new interface and everything needs to migrate to the "new way". People need to give some hope into a company that shaped how computers interact with humans for decades...

Agreed I tried win 8 for my HTPC thinking maybe it would be easier to use then win7 for media stuff, Boy was I wrong
Windows 8 - yo dog we heard you like shortcuts so we made a UI with shortcuts to your shortcuts except for your program shortcuts,
and hid everything else in some obscure menu that isn't even remotely similar to any other windows version.

So in a nutshell Win 8 is windows phone with a desktop tile, also not a big fan of having to log in to windows live to do anything useful with most of the pre configured tiles seems like a push to pull more people away from googles services and into windows live crap.
On the bright side i used the arrow keys and windows key more in the 3 days that win8 was installed then i have in 10 years, navigating the ui is a pain without some touch device and i really love that there's no obvious way to close apps besides ALT+F4

The best part is how much of a pain in the ass windows 8 is going to make my job doing tech support :banghead: im switching to network support asap  Server 03 08 7pro

Why do the "You Promised Me Mars Colonies. Instead, I got Facebook" comes into my mind when you say such things? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that MS did nothing but crap (e.g: MS-research), but are you sure hope is the right word when we are talking about the history of Windows as an operating system?

I don't hate Windows 8 but it'll stay on my mobile phone or tablet and 7 on my desktop. Kids love it though, that irresistible kindergarten colorful building blocks theme; they've been bugging me to upgrade to 8. I gotta admit 8 is natural for kids, they love it!

I tried Win8 for the first time this morning in VirtualBox. I had to use web search just to figure out how to shut the darn thing down. I had the net interface disabled, and most of the tiles complained that the xbox (?!) service was unavailable -- looks like a huge land-grab to me. Tinkered with it for a while -- they can keep it, pass. All I could think of was the Wii menu music as I slide the tiles left and right, lol.
