Turn a closed loop cooler into a loop? Possible?

I got a water cooling kit for socket 775, the issue is that the only place I can install it is at the front of the case (back exhaust is 92mm) but the tubes are too short. Could I add a reservoir and change the tubes? Is that feasible?

The pump most likely isn't strong enough to handle a reservoir. However, I'm sure you could change the tubing out for something a little longer. keep it as short as possible though.

Yes you can change the tubing the res might be pushing it depending on the pump.

Without a res, I suggest at least a T-line so that you can easily refill or add fluid as needed.

More resistance I imagine a straight through tube reservoir wouldn't make enough difference to cause issues.

yes, but the filling pipe is welded shut; besides with the shroud installed it becomes inaccessible:




I could cut it open but I don't know how would I go about closing it. Any ideas?

I can think of a number of ways, depending how technical you want to get. I've made plugs by shaving a wooden pencil so it was just a little bigger than the hole and then pounding it in:) You could probably find a black rubber cork/stopper around the same diameter at a hardware store.

Cd's solution sounds the best, kill two birds with one stone.
