Ok, so I need to invest in better cooling for the cpu. Before I write the "list", one of the chassie fans is directly moving air away from around the area where the cpu is located.

List:
Closed loop liquid coolers
Corsair Hydro H70
Corsair Hydro H60
Antec KÜHLER H2O 620

Air coolers
Scythe CPU-cooler Shuriken Rev
Noctua CPU-cooler NH-U9B SE2 (backplate required)
Cooler Master CPU cooler Hyper 612S

Get whatevers cheaper in the closed loop systems... the difference in temps between them isnt enough to justify extra cash.

You'll like any of them. :)

i got the 620 on sale at Microcenter, then i added another fan that i had laying around for that push/pull effect. awesome cooler, definitely keeps my 2600k nice and cool. i believe thats the best bang for the buck

I would choose the Antec Kuhler 620. From what I researched when I got mine, it beats the H60 and comes within 1 or 2 degrees of the H70 but the 620 is cheaper than both the Corsairs (well when I got mine it was). I've got my i5-2500k chugging along at 4.4ghz atm (lowered it from 4.8ghz as I was afraid of wearing out the CPU), and max temps seem to be between 55-60C with prime95. With the CPU left at stock the max temps were around the 45C mark.

This is true, but the Antec 620 is considerably quieter too, along with being cheaper and another fan can be added for extra performance if needed.

If you are going to buy new fans may as well buy quiet fans for the H70. The thicker rad performs better end of story.

So if I stick with the H70, and please do remember I'm running an AMD cpu, these differ from Intel when it comes to heat (this is what I have heard), also the case it not the best.

However, I had an idéa when coming to using two fans with the cooler - I'll place one cooler that blows and the other one sucks that air out of the system - blowing it behind the system. Is this a good solution however? Or should I just place the entire rad outside the system? I know I'll have to dremel some pieces out, there are no holes directly for it, but that's where plastic padding comes handy..

I need a better fan, I can hear it. When I play a game, I set the MSI controlpanel's fan ratio @ 75% - 2900RPM, but after a while it goes up. I then place my hand behind the exhaust fan just to feel the heat coming out of the case. This is not good in the long run for the cpu, correct?

Personally, I have a H60 with a extra fan and it keeps my 2600k at 4.2ghz while at full load for days on end under 80'c, and usually around 70'c(sometimes I'll have a core spike up to around 77-78'c). Go with the H70

iv read about those h60,h70 and h100 coolers that they have pump problems..,at least some ppl do..do u feel lucky?? that is why they release h100i series with new pump witch is so freakin silent, plus new ruber pipes for easier mounting!!instead of waiting for h70i to come out why not go for antec but chose H2O 920 witch have thicker radiator adn for that beter cooling..u will be thanking me for that trust me!! :)

Yay.. They don't have all of the series where I buy my hardware.
Also, the cooler itself looks similar when looking at the Antec and Corsair series (the part that goes onto the CPU).

Ok, so if I want to be on the safe side - it's the Antec, and if I want it to be cool, it's the Corsair?
Please help me decide, I'm getting one THIS weekend in other words - on saturday..

Mine has had zero issues since I purchased it a year to a year and a half ago. The 920 wins because of the fans installed it has zero to do with the pump/radiator.

Wow, really? I push a lot higher voltages through my SB-E chip and I don't even get close to those numbers. At that point I'm running ~1.52v at 4.9Ghz and I only have a Zalman CNPS9900 Max and I average about 68*C at 1.44v and 70*C at 1.46 volts. Granted I have a ton of airflow through the case which will benefit any cooler.

h2o 920 have thicker radiator then h2o 620..,h2o 920 have i think the same size rads as h70!
i was just teling to go for 920 for beter pump!!well just to have that clear..the pump problem on corsair side is just sound problem...,it gets prety loud in some cases..just go to youtube and try h70,h80,h100 pump issue and see what am talking about..there are also several pump fixes on youtube too..

I have an H70 the pump doesn't get loud at all. It has been in use for over year no extra noise from the pump. Same goes for the 3 or 4 H50's I have put into rigs.

Corsair has admitted that certain runs of the H60/H80/H100 have pump problems when combined with a PSU that supplies over 12V. There is a post about it on their forums, and I waited to get my H100 samples from them until they had fixed the issue(which was really confined to a small batch of the pumps as far as I understand). I got my samples several months ago.

If you H100/H80 whatever cooler is abnormally noisy, Corsair WILL quickly do an RMA because of this issue. They can identify which pumps are affected by serial number.

Corsair rep said:
I can tell you for sure that one of the reasons that the issue is hard to track down is that it normally doesn't present itself if your PSU is running the +12V rail at anything less than +12.2V. The problem is that the +12V rail is technically within ATX specification from +11.4V to +12.6V, so people could have a PSU running at +12.3V or something, and get a noisy H100 on it. Then they RMA the unit, and because the root cause is the PSU voltage being handled incorrectly, the problem shows up again for them.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1236923/...inding-pump-fix-official-corsair-response/210

That said, Corsair identified the problem, and have fixed it.

Coresair Rep said:
Okay quick update guys - we've tracked down the root cause, it's a tolerance issue in the ceramic bearing around the pump shaft. It affects only a small number of units, but we've immediately tightened the screening process for these components so we can assure this won't happen any longer in production.

Thermaltake Water2.0 systems are the best performing AIO coolers I have tested to date, just something else to chew on for a bit.

Yeah, Tt is doing pretty good lately, actually. I am almost reminded of when the Big Typhoon was king. Not everyone likes Tt, but they've always has at least a product or two that has kept me looking at them...

Thermaltake? I know about them, nothing bad about them - they don't have any in store, that's all. The only one they sell is the Tt Bigwater A80, but do not have them in store.

Actually, strange enough, I asked which one was the most sold closed loop WC they have sold, and they said it was the Antec Kühler 620..

I'm rather clueless. Which one should I buy? The Antec is also cheaper than the Corsair one.

The Corsair has a thicker radiator.. Good or bad? Which one should I get?

I've owned/used H50, H70, H100, and Antec920 clone(AMD watercooler).

Based on that, H70. AMD chips need all the cooling they can get, if overclocking. If not overclocking, don't bother with aftermarket cooling.

Thicker rad is good, since it provides a more surface area for the water to be cooled with, as well as a higher thermal capacity, since there is more water to hold that heat.

In the past, thicker rads weren't always good, but that was due to fans, not the rad itself. A thin rad with properly chosen fans can do better than a thick rad with inadequate fans, sometimes. ;)
