Hey, so i got a PCI addon card. but it uses a driver that i have for something els but it uses a earlier version of the software and driver but installs in the same folder. and causes problems and reboots. ive tested with it uninstalled and it didnt get reboots also it tells me theres an issue in the device manager

both of the drivers install to the same folder, and i cant change the destination folder during the installation.

is there any way to change the destination for the install?

So you want to tell us what your working on? But the answer most likely is no. Remove the old driver or roll back the driver. Or use system restore

ummmm let me try and make this clearer. i think i didnt explain it good

befor the addon card, i have a driver for another part in my system
than i got my addon card it uses the same software just a different version
when it installs, it installs where the other part driver is and mixes with it
there both different versions of the software but i need them both so both parts work
but it causes problems since there in the same folder. like reboots ect..
there is no option for destination folder but im sure if they were in the separate folder everything will be fine

any way to change destination folder befor install?

It doesn’t work like that. When it installs it puts stuff all over the place. The drivers aren’t located in the instillation folder

this part of the motherboard is conflicting with the addon card:

1 x Renesas D720200 chips and 2 x VLI VL810 hubs:

Up to 4 USB 3.0/2.0 ports (2 on the back panel, 2 via the USB brackets connected to the internal USB headers)
* The USB 2.0 signals of the 2 USB 3.0/2.0 ports on the back panel are from the Chipset.

maybe the only way is to get a card that has a driver that is not the same as the mobos usb 3.0 driver. i would try at least several hours to get it working.

edit: maybe install addon card driver first then mobos or the other way around.

okay about double post on my own thread. lol

sooo after trying every registry change for installation paths i went to the drivers for the addon card and downloaded the changlog
and in there it says theres a way to change paths

"If you want to change install path, you need to generate setup.iss as
follows: setup /r /f1".\setup.iss""

i get error 1152 when using the command line.

Wouldn't there be a way to manually install the drivers through device manager without using a setup wizard?

Wouldn't there be a way to manually install the drivers through device manager without using a setup wizard?

let me check. ill edit this with result

EDIT: nope. the only option was the .inf

EDIT#2: okay so i have to run the command "setup /r /f1".\setup.iss" after typing in the path of the exe and i get error 1152
anyone familiar with setup.iss commands?

EDIT: So after messing trying to figure it out for about 2-3hours. I decided to install the drivers for the card, and CUT the files to another destination and than install the motherboard ones. than reboot. than in the device manager, The card was unrecognized. So i did right click, update driver from destination, than chose from my destination i made and Rebooted. and so far everything is working ok. no errors or signs in the device manager that the card is messed up anymore :)

hopefully it stays that way. thanx for the help though

FINAL EDIT: nvm still caused problems so i just turned off the usb 3.0 controller chip that's on the motherboard in the BIOS. the 3.0 ports on the motherboard still work but just aren't controlled by the driver. so no more interference with my PCI card. and the pci card has more 3.0 ports
