For me, it's a tossup between Dishonored and Hitman: Absolution. I went with Hitman: Absolution because it is a little more refined than Dishonored.

My vote is for Medal of Honor Warfighter (MoHW), released October 2012. I really like the fire-team buddy concept and, specifically, how it's implemented in this game; for example, MoHW doesn't let you buddy-spawn until your fire-team buddy is relatively safe, which is basically not being fired upon and or not seen by an enemy for at least a few seconds. I also like the attempt at more realism with the optional "Hardcore" mode.

Me neither though I can "believe it" easily. Nothing particularly noteworthy on that list, imo. Besides, I am still busy with late 2011's awesome lineup.

A battle of the 3s there. Of the one's I've played though, I'd say maybe Max Payne 3, but I'm really looking forward to Far Cry 3, so maybe that will dethrone it. I was looking forward to AC3 too, but some are saying it's not living up to expectations. Won't know till I play them both.

My gaming budget is extremely limited these days, so the only game I've actually played on this list is Torchlight 2.

The best money I spent this year though was on Telltale's The Walking Dead. That game is so full of win, it's my choice for GOTY.

For anyone interested in playing it, but haven't bought it yet, the Collectors Edition (physical) comes out soon and comes with The Walking Dead Compendium 1 comic book. It's an excellent comic.

And for you naysayers that think "Oh man, TWD? Isn't that some boring point and click adventure game?"; it's more of a soul shredding, mass depression simulator cleverly disguised as a point and click adventure game.

Actually none of that dull crappy bore. But I vote for Torchlight 2. It was artistically nice game.

+1 exactly . The same awesome mechanics as in Diablo 2. The OP understood me right, I was asking for a poll. But we need MOAR titles.

Some suggestions:

Sleeping dogs/
The Darkness II/
Shank2/
Dear Esther/
Alan Wake/
Rayman origins/
Blacklight: retribution/
Legend of Grimrock/
UEFA Euro 2012
Diablo III/
Street Fighter X Tekken/
Magicka: The Other Side of the Coin/
Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013/
Orcs Must Die! 2/
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive/
Darksiders II/
Guild Wars 2/
I Am Alive/
Black Mesa/
Borderlands 2/
Pro Evolution Soccer 2013/
Castle Crushers/
Natural Selection 2/
Footbal Manager 2013/

Anything above 7.0 qualifies. I can't imagine someone will fall in love with a game scored less than 7.0 on a review :p ;)

Damn, looking at that list really drives home the fact that '12 was a lackluster year for games. My vote is for DayZ, for the reasons posted above.

Hardly a GOTY title, even if it's probably better than a lot of games. A GOTY game has to be accepted by the masses and therefore be quite stupid.

EDIT: OMG I sound bitter.

I have never heard about this title. I had to manually check it :D. It seems to be pretty good. Something like Heroes VI.

Of all the stuff I have tried this year, it has been a long time since I have had so much fun playing a platformer. It has an awesome music score and it's accessible to everyone. It also was the only game that I saw being released this year that made my mind immediately scream "BUY NAO!!".

Awesome artstyle, I didn't put in the suggestion list, not because it's a bad game, but not a chance for GOTY. It's a precision side-scroller like Super Meat Boy. I have played the last one, and it made me rage quit. I don't own so much control over the keyboard/gamepad :D to perform a perfect timing :D

Fair enough. Precision side-scroller aside, it's still a 2D platformer. But I get where you're going. Yes, it does not stand a chance against AAA titles for a GOTY award/recognition, but for me it deserves it. The finished product is brilliant from every aspect or POV. As for being successful with this kind of game, practice makes perfect + patience is a virtue = You're Winner !.
I just wish I had more time to spend playing it.
