When I want to unpack an archive, which has for example 10 gb and try to extract it with Winrar or 7 zip, it takes around 25 minutes. However, if I do defragmentation(which I do on weekly basis anyway) prior to unpacking the archive, then it takes around 7 minutes. I dont know how to solve this because I dont want to defragment my hdd before each extraction.

There are defrag programs that allow you to defrag only what you want. For example, UltimateDefrag from Disktrix.
Another option would be to consider a new storage drive. Having more free space allows better file management, and less load whenever you decide to defragment an entire drive. Or better yet, get a solid state drive and you won't have to worry about fragmentation and seek times.

your drive is probably quite full, so it's getting fragmented. 80% disk full is a good choice, if you want high speeds.
No the disc is not full, its almost empty since I installed W7 one week ago. And its not fragmented at all. Thats weird for me. Here is an example: I go to disc properties and I there is 0% fragmented, everyting is fine. Afterwards I download a full hd movie, then I click on extract and it takes 25 minutes to unpack. If I ran defragmentation again right before I unpack the movie, in this case the time will frop to cca. 7 minutes for 10 gb archive. So the thing thats not clear to me is whether its supposed to be like that or if its my hdd thats broken or something like that. But everything else works fine.
specs: i5 3570k, 8gb ram, 500gb WD 7200rpm, sata II(Ive been using this hdd for 2 years).
