Converting Protected WMA to MP3

I am making mountain bike videos now since I got a GoPro Hero 3 and want to put my music from Zune into it, but since its WMA, Windows Movie maker doesn't know that format, so it needs to be put into MP3, but its protected and the tools ive been using haven't been working because of it being DRM Protected.

Can you burn them to an audio CD? If so, just burn them to a CD then re-rip them to MP3 using the ripping program of your choice.

Yeah I can, but im pretty sure the DRM protection still goes with it, even if I do the burn.

Audio CDs don't support encryption so long as it is burned as a Red Book music CD.

So just use that if I want to put a song into my videos. Put onto a disk, and rip it?

Apparently it cannot be burned. Maybe its because i didnt buy the songs yet, and just have them from Zune music pass.

You can't burn Zune Music Pass songs. However, at least when I used Zune Music Pass, you got 10 Zune Pass Credits each month that allowed you to download 10 songs(one per credit) and you have full rights to those songs, including the ability to burn them to CD.

Don't buy from Zune. My dad bought a song, had his phone formatted, had to rebuy it, and on the third time having to rebuy it, we just went to Amazon to buy it DRM free so it's copy and paste. Buy it from some place that sells DRM free music.

Agreed, but if you are already paying for Zune pass, you might as well use the 10 download credits. Though I only paid for it for a month to test it out.

I agree with you though, if you are going to buy music buy it DRM free. Even iTunes lets you buy DRM free music now, though I think the DRM free versions are more expensive than the DRM versions.

I like Amazon's new system where you buy a physical CD and they instantly add them for digital download from their Cloud Player system. Plus, any eligible CD that you bought all the way back to 1998 will be added as well. I find this great because I'm still the kind of person that like to have a physical copy of what I'm buying, but this still lets me listen to the CD instantly.

Run an audio cable from Audio Out to Line In (or Mic In if that's all you got) and press record . Quality may (very likely) not be great, but with some volume and/or boost adjustment, it could work for a video, as you say.

Alternatively, "Virtual Audio Cable" is a non-free way to do the above entirely in software. Benefits are that it's entirely in software and that it isn't lossy due to a Digital->Analog ---(cable)--- Analog->Digital conversion. Drawbacks are that it can take some time to understand and set up, and that although there's a free-trial available, it interjects into your audio stream with (I think) voice overs reminding you to buy the full version (which starts at $25).

The last suggestion is to buy the song.
