And i've seen some interesting ones over the years but seriously, who in the hell would want their GPU to sound like a Cisco router on a bad day? Someone in the Gigabyte design and idea department needs a firing.

That would only be good for a bench station.

It would blow all the heat in your case.

Run 4 cards in a single board.. heck, run two cards with no slots between, and these cards will suddenly make sense.

Ask anyone with the Windforce cards in such configs how well they run with no breathing room, they'll understand.

Rack servers use similar cooling designs for the same reason, too.

That would only be good for a bench station.

It's not like 95% of all coolers do that anyway? Only ones that don't are reference coolers (not even all of them). Usually those only exist right after card launch and then they are almost impossible to get. So in the end you pretty much get hot air in the case regardless of the card you have...

First saw something like that posted here about year ago. Thought it was interesting and innovative, but probably very noisy.

And I'm pretty sure I saw an actual review of a card with a cooler like that.

Know what? It was noisy.

being that I usually have at least one crossfire rig around I was ready to agree.. then I noticed the cooler in question takes up three slots.. Gigabyte are unable to make a board with correct spacing for dual slot dual card setups let alone triple slot multi cards..not to mention they cant even get industry standard ATX board mounts correct..i would actually like that extra standoff/mountpoint for my mainboard under the pci slots...kthnx.

I've got pretty much every Gigabyte board released in the past two years and have had none of these issues, really. When it comes to slot arrangement, that alone is a huge part of why they have so many models. Mounting points? That's the same story for nearly every board out there. Very few boards use all mounting points, most forgoing a mount on the left side on the bottom half of the board.

However, yes, they are noisy. There is no arguing that. It's a crazy product, for sure, but I think I understand the inspiration.

I haven't built Gigabyte since my X58A-UD7.I like my UD7 though..
just the card spacing and lack of industry standard ATX mounts for something designed for maximum card expansion has me wondering....

Lol, screw those fans what ya need is some thing like a MK-13 bracket which will allow you to place some real fans just above the card.

I hope they are better fan that come on the older Corsair ram coolers as both of mine failed after a year due to being cheaply made.
