i voted for the $850 mark for a few reasons:
1-Its the most powerful single gpu there is
2-It has a rather large die size, so binning can't be too great for it
3-Yes you can get 2 cards that perform better for cheaper, but again it's ONE card with less power draw than any 2 cards' power draw that can outperform it.
4-to lower the price would make their lower tiered cards kind moot, so they would need a price drop, which in turn may lose them profits even if they sold more(speculating)
