Well, give me a few minutes. And just to let you know, the limit on my RAM is 2GB if you weanty any warranty. I can do more than thatr in some systems if you are willing to void warranty.

adding ram voids warranty??

Unless you want to pay extra, I'm afraid it does. The guy I hired tyo do my repairs said, and refuses to do them if they don't pay for extended warranty. Oh and Alcpone, I cheaped out on my rig and bought it from a store.

Well, heres the Intel version of the Ultima 9000. Slightly cheaper, due to the lack of SLI and downgraded monitor. But remember, if you don't like one of these, ask me to custom build, and I'll get a price to you ASAP.

Okay, an update. From now on, I will ONLY be using AMD processors. Current pre-built systems are not affected by this. It is known that Intel CPU's have a slightly higher clock frequency, so all AMD CPU's will be pre-overclocked slightly if available to make up for lost clock speed. This small overclock is FREE, but a higher overclock can be bought for £50, and this is for an overclock on ALL components. Free overclock is for CPU only.

EDIT: I've decided I will build Intel systems, but it will increase the price of the system. The reason for this is because Intel are abusing their monopolistic position by bullying consumers into only buying their products. AMD has never done this, so I support them.

Quality is paramount. If people want cheap computers with crappy parts, fine by me. If they want quality builds, with tested components, then they come to me. I don't care what you think. If you want to flame, go stick your head in a bonfire or something. Don't hassle people who are trying to get some money to buy food by doing something they love.

im not flaming you dude, and i think the idea of offering a pc building process is a good one, however if somebody is looking for components in the u.k. i'll find the cheapest price i can find and post a link to it, and no it wont be to a crappy part either, i just think an x1600pro for £120 is taking the piss a bit, thats not helping people (what a forums for) its ripping them off (you know fully well that these can be had for around £60 or so, doing a quick search i could only find x1650's, for around £80)

Precisely, I think this guy needs some kind of mod slapping! If he really wants to sell systems he can join the rest of the sellers on ebay :)

No, I didn't know. Which is why tomorrow, I'm rechecking all of my prices with suppliers I found on here, and adjusting my prices to those parts, while still making some money out of it. But at last check, I was cheaper than Alienware.

And Alcpone, I'm a couple of years too young for ebay.

Anyway, general question, can anyone provide me with hosting, say a subdomain until the ball is rolling and I can afford my own site?

I must agree with Grings. You have a nice idea, however TPU is probably the wrong place to be advertising it. Most people here would build their own systems, and some of your prices for components are well overmarked. How much do you charge for the actual building?

With Alienware your paying for the name/support. + i hear they are real well laid out and you´ll hardly ever have any issues with thier comps. thats where people who dont know much about computers should go.

On one of your first bugget builds, you said you were going for quality with limited money for a gammer, I think instead of the e6600 you should of gone with a e6300 and a decent psu. I thought that was a clearer option but thats just my view.

I dont think this is the best site for you to sell comps from, but you can do it (Im sure you might sell a couple). though most site visitors/users know how to overclock, elc.

Edit: the build I am taking about is the one on post #22 of page 1. I dont see a 380watt psu powering that rig with any stability or at all.

Well, here you are:

Ultima 9000 (I'll probably think of a new name in 5 minutes :))

AMD Athlon 64 5200+ X2 Dual Core Socket AM2
2x ASUS EN8800GTX/HTDP 768MB DDR3 (Dual DVI, SLI, HDCP compliant) in SLI
2x Samsung 500GB Serial ATA II 16MB cache
Logitech Cordless Desktop LX710 Laser Mouse and Keyboard
Kingston 2GB (2x 1GB) DDR2 667 PC2-5300 240-pin
ASUS MW221U - 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor with speakers
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate32 OEM (32-bit)
Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
Logitech S-500 5.1 Surround set Speakers
ASUS MyCinema-P7131 Hybrid (Digital and Analog) TV PCI Card
600W Power Supply
Samsung SH-S182 18x DVDRW MultiFormat LightScribe Black with Nero Express

£2429.55 exc. VAT and shipping.

Quite cheap for this kind of power IMO, I'll work on an Intel solution tomorrow.

This is way cheaper lol including VAT.

http://www.pcoption.co.uk/pcpackages/index5d_8800sliamdx2.htm

Spec it upto the same and its so much cheaper. Also its a proper company and not some 15 year old kid in his bedroom. Beating Alienware is no good because you arent competing with them. They have a premium because of the premium service you recieve. Something you can never match unless you have several million £s to pay for fixed costs.

Also they allow 4 gigs of RAM plus a 3 year warranty.

edit: remember that when speccing the above link up, that you dont need to buy an additional mobo since when you buy 2 x 8800gtx they automatically add the Asus M2N32 SLI.

Yep, and you would take everything they have since they have unlimited liability (i.e. the damages they incur isnt limited to a private business).

Also for that kind of money you could build yourself a quad core beast.

http://www.pcoption.co.uk/pcpackages/index5d_8800slip4quad.htm

Remember that they include a 680i motherboard.

why stop at quad core, i would go for a dual quad xeon 51 series (8 cores), mind you there arn't many programs that would utilise even 4 let alone 8 of the cores

does dual quad xeon support sli? if not i would see no point.....you'd have nice processors....but no video card to use.

why stop at quad core, i would go for a dual quad xeon 51 series (8 cores), mind you there arn't many programs that would utilise even 4 let alone 8 of the cores

Why not just have a gaming monster in each room of your house, all networked, with bloody huge screens!! Even one in the bath! With waterproof Mouse and Keyboard and a 42" TFT mounted on the wall.

Just going to throw my 2 cents in here. I run a pc business and do custom builds and the like, but one of the biggest problems i have is the fact that everything is a custom job. No uniformity makes things difficult, cause you'll be buying parts you've never had a chance to use, and even if things go right 99% of the time, there is that 1% which is a ... :banghead: ... and can make all your efforts seem worthless, even more so if you offer a warranty (thats where things get 'fun'). It's cool that you're trying to do this, but like whats been said... this is where almost everyone has built their own pc, or at least done all the work in upgrading their own pc. I would suggest learning some networking, enough to get you by, and setting up wireless networks for people locally, that is the mainstay of my business; and it is definitely one of the quickest ways to make money and look professional. Either let them buy the hardware and charge to install, or charge for Hardware+install (which is easier, cause you always buy stuff that you know works).

Do you have a trade account with overclockers.co.uk or something? Or do you buy the components at retail like everybody else?

BTW, try www.microdirect.com Their Customer Service is second to none. After having a bad experience with overclockers.co.uk (Simple RMA taking 2 months) I will never shop with them again.
