If it's just for storage, get the Green. It has a two year warranty vs the Cuda's one.

trueeee but I just wanna store films and music, so the more storage the better

Yeah less space for better performance + longer warranty and you did say gaming too. The 2TB one is £115 and i know what i would do..

I have a blue and it sucks ass big time in games new area lag 1/2 the time and this year i have enough to replace it with SSD.

Which is a option you could take if you have the money for it that is and how many games you plan to play but for for all i know you might mean games like hidden objects or solitaire. I was thinking more demanding games like D3.

If it's just for storage, get the Green. It has a two year warranty vs the Cuda's one.

although blacks have 5 year warranty although you will pay more but you get more too.

The general consensus would be that WDs are more reliable in consumer grade HDDs.

WD 2TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s Caviar Green had some issues and a high failure rate. Right at 5% last I checked

So I would get the Seagate

But just another thing. The WD IntelliPower Green drive are superb. I would prefer these drives

Those WD greens are horrible.
I have two failed 2GB ones sitting beside my desk.

OTOH, they do make wonderful doorstops.

Would you mind posting some HD Tune, HD Tach, or even ATTO/CDM benchmarks when you have the time?

I recently started to overhaul my storage subsystem so I am seeking out benchmarks from "real" users (not review benchmarks) like a ravenous beast!

Could I get a link to this consensus? I've used many from both brands over the years. They're pretty much the same thing.

In this case I would of gone with the Seagate. Green drives are meh, an O/S can take care of power saving if you really feel that a HDD even consumes enough power to justify using such a thing.

Flip A Coin

I have two of the WD Green 2TB drives, both have worked great for almost 3 years, used them externally in a hard drive dock for over a year, and they're now in my case and still run cool and have 100% health. Others have had issues such as DOAs and early failure, but no more than any other brand and probably a lot less than Seagate drives, which I normally avoid (but I just bought an external Seagate 2TB which so far works great). So it really comes down to the luck of the draw.
