Hi

nb: are you able to see the writing on either of the chips?, can you post this info.

can you provide this info from the back of the chips?

this is required to identify the bios chip

EDIT Read post 21 Frogger attached a pdf for you to read, that has the chip info you are looking for; confirm you have read this.

Do you have a spare card other than onboard?

You need to purchase a cheap PCIex card to flash your 6850 with. I have seen that on some board when using the onboard IGP it disables the PCIex video card were it is not able to be seen.

do you happen to know brand names and models that may cause issues with the iGP and PCIe x16 vga cards

nb: in the OP; flashed a HD 6850 with a HD 6870 vbios and changed the device ID

You will need to connect pin1 [has dot] to pin 8 see boot to dos & atiflash should see the card. @ that point you need to break the 1 to 8 connection & flash the card with the right bios

For AnyOne Who Might Be Reading This Thread And Have Reached To This Point.
Unless There Comes An Electricity Issue WHILE Bios Falshing, No Bios Falshing Results In Card Brick.
If After Bios Flash
No Post, No Boot And No Flash Disk Read??
Boots But No VGA Adapter Recognized?? Or Boots But Black Screen ???
This Happens When Either You Flash A Wrong Or Faulty Bios, Or The New Bios Has A Boot Voltage Which Is Too High For Your Current Power Supply.(According To The Power Consumption Of Other Parts, Specially If Overclocked.
IF Boots But Black Screen >>> Then Follow The BLIND FLASH PROCEDURE. That Will DO The JOB.
OtherWise
* First Shut Down, Power Off, Unplug The Bricked Card. Pull It Out Of Case.
* Now If You Have Another Graphics Card And Mobo Supports Crossfire, (Has Two PCIE Slots Or Internal VGA Or Anyway ) That You Can Use As Primary VGA, Make It And Try To Boot.
* Go To Bios And Undo Any OverClocks Set To Any Part. Shut Down And Unplug Power Cords Of Every Part Which Is Not Necessary Or Needed For A Single Boot.
* Plug Back The Bricked Card To MotherBoard (INTO The Slot Farthest To CPU) Plug PCIE Power Cords To Card.
* Turn On The PC, Wait For Atleast 30 Seconds And See If PC Boots ( Probably Does). IF So , Go Straight Booting From Flash Disk ( Containing The AtiFlash.exe And Original Bios .rom) And Type atiflash -i . Shows The Bricked Card For Sure. And Flash It Back With Original Rom.
* IF PC Does Not Boot. And No Post. Take The Card To A More Powerful PC, Plug It There And Try It.

It's a four year old thread that had a random necro the people ignored most likely because thread necro is frowned upon. You're better off making a new thread.
