Didn't watch the video but it makes no sense. Might as well buy the extreme huh? Or, the new Hero version.

*Okay watched it. The Formula will be cheaper than the extreme. He's saying he'd get the Formula over the Extreme even though it's cheaper. Apparently some people hold this guy in high regard and would think he'd buy only the best or something...

So... Like in the past the Formula is under the Extreme and is a bit cheaper.

Got my ASRock for $190, personally don't need a $360+ motherboard to OC since my chip isn't that great anyway.

Pretty much have set my sights on the Hero. Just waiting for Daves review.

Sorry my mistake. I did think it was odd, that's why I started the thread because it seemed so odd. But all is well, nothing to see here, carry on. lol.
Edit. Don't get me wrong this guy is no guru for me, he just happens to pop up on a few vids where very little is said about specifics and he just has a general rant.

From what i've come across, clocking Haswell is basically the same across all MFGs. Some are better for RAM tweaking, multi GPU & better I/O feature set but CPU pretty much level. Seems you can achieve a lot more (relatively) without spending large $$$ with Haswell.

If i was building a z87 ATX i'd prolly get that MSi "gaming" board Dave reviewed tbh

How do you like your ASrock?

I like the Z87 generally. Its a nice chipset but i dont get who would be willing to pay more than 300 dollars for a motherboard like that just having cool OC? :nutkick:

I'm hoping that deliding my 4770K will give more scope for overclocking. And my thinking was that with these chips being troublesome I could benefit from lots of OC'ing features, to try and scrape every last MHz from it before it catches fire.
There are other $300+ boards that can just about justify their price with features like great on board audio and crossfire/sli features, 2 x Intel GbE LAN chips 10/100/1000 Mbit and so on. But I agree with you, the prices are getting ridicules. There will only be a few people who will make use of nearly all the features on a high end board. I would have liked to have seen a pcb separation and Supreme FX on the extreme VI.
