kinda disapointing...for a game that has been delayed for who knows how long. I would have suspected a quite finished games with many of the bugs fixed, and proper cinamatics.

um disappointing? it got an 8.5 out or 10? that isn't bad at all people thought it would bomb harder than that, and as you said it was "delayed" for so long, but who knows if they were actually working on it that whole time which i doubt. i personally think its a good score im buying it (already had it pre ordered) when i get out of work today:rockout:

I guess it's a good game but with all the delays and such maybe gamers were expecting a little bit more...but it is a new type of game so of course there will be some quirks.

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
Play the game for yourselves and try it. You really cant rely on games reviews. As it stands even if STALKER isnt as polished as it should be, there will no doubt be a patch fixing stuff and improving performance. No doubt if it isnt included in a patch some clever spark will likely remove a lot of loading times the game suffers from traversing its open areas.

Well, I just picked up copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. today, and here is my review.

The game is buggy. It takes a lot of bullets to take down enemies, even on the novice setting.
I don't know if it's bugs or just the way the game engine works, but I have a tough time cranking the graphic options, and my computer has more than enough power for this game.
( See my specs ). The sound is fantastic, but I feel the game is too clunky. The graphics are good, but Half-life 2 looks much better. Hopefully a patch will make it run more smoothly.

I am interested what other peoples opinions are on this game.

I think it has potential, but is way too clunky right now. Feels like a beta.

Crappily. If I turn off the dynamic lighting, it runs very smooth, but looks like crap and removes the atmosphere. I put it to medium settings and dynamic lighting, and its rather sluggish but playable.

I think it's very beta-ific myself. There is tons of stuttering, and combat lacks the visceral feel that I keep reading about in the reviews. It's clunky, and the enemies seem to have much more accurate weaponry

When we have games like Crysis and Bioshock coming soon, I think this hardly comes close to pushing the bar in any direction at all.

I've tried it on a p4/2.4c w/ a 9550 card and my home c2d system listed at left.

I've found surpisingly little difference with the visual quality I can attain - if I run the game on my new system w/ x1950pro 1280x1024/med/dynamic lighting it runs about the same as 1024x768/med/static lighting on my p4/9550agp system....go figure. And it really doesn't look as markedly better on the C2D system as I'd think.

And I don't think it looks so great after playing FEAR, CoH and Oblivion most recently.
