I wonder if they're allowed to sell parts. They said we'd be able to buy the block and pump combo from it standalone but that never happened. If they can't sell the whole kit maybe now is the time.

I'm actually on Asetek's side here. They were, it seems, the first to come up with and patent the idea of a pump/waterblock combo. Other companies shouldn't be allowed to just steal the idea without some kind of compensation to Asetek.

Probably not, the pump/block combo is the part they are claiming infringes on their patent. So selling it stand alone likely isn't an option.

Didn't the original Apogee Drive unit come out before Asetek's AIO's? If it did and I know swiftec owns the patent on those it would mean that they should be able to sell the H220 pump without an issue by itself.

This it total hogwash. It seems to me that Gabe put out some serious resources and capital to create a product that was a vast improvement over other AIO systems. This type of setback could be devastating for Swiftech, one of my favorite companies.

Seems like Asetek is following the business model of the Lemont Aircraft Corporation.

Please follow the quote chain. If they were being blocked from selling the block/pump combos they would not be able to sell that either. I can still check out with that one. So if they can sell the parts of the H220 I wish they would.

Market it as:

Swiftech H2O-X20 Lite (featuring the NEW Apogee II LE drive)

They would need to sell it broken out as a kit rather than a preassembled AIO but so what...

Asetek got a grant for their patent not so long ago so it's no surprise they hadn't sue before.

I think Swiftech can sell their pump/block as a standalone product. The Asetek patent covers the complete kit with radiator and pump/block (if a kit has the pump located elsewhere it won't infringe Asetek's patent).

This is even worse than that idiotic patent for using a 140mm fan in a PSU... But not as bad as Apple's rounded rectangle.
The US Patent Office really needs a revision or six.
