Title says it all. Which is better? How much better?

The GK208 740m is 64bit ddr3, while the GK107 740m is 128bit ddr3 or gddr5

I was eyeballing the HP envy 15t-j000 quad and unfortunately, it offers the gk208 or HD4600, with no other options

740m is better. Not sure how much but most likely they're on the same tier.

I really want to know how much.

Has anyone seen any benchmarks? I'm struggling to find one.

Remember, I'm looking for the gk208 version for the bench

The gk208 version should not differ much from the gk107 version. The gk208 only has minimal boost in clock speed plus the gddr5( only 64-bit ) advantage w/c can be countered by the gk107's 128-bit mem interface.

You can try here, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600.86106.0.html

They're actually different tier in terms of performance.

^then it should be around the same even slower than the gk107 version with 128-bit ddr3 mem interface

I'm trying to find a direct comparison between the HD 4600 and the ddr3 gk208 geforce 740m

The 740m 208 with ddr3 has considerably worse specs than the 107.

I can't find one anywhere on the internet. GK208 seems to be shrouded in mystery

I guess nobody knows

Some info and 3dm scores for the 740m (gk208 64bit)

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/GK208-GT-740M-in-Edge-E531-and-E431/td-p/1170251

3dm scores with HD 4000 IGP on 3770k

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/2190/6/

Intel slightly better at the cloud gate bench with the 740m beating out Intel on Ice Storm, so it doesn't look like there's much between them.

Either way both will struggle to play games at med/low settings

That lenovo post didn't really have effective benchmarks on it.

Also, you didn't read my post when I'm trying to compare the 4600 vs the 740m gk208 (this is what's in the HP envy series laptops)

You gave me 4000 stats

Well if you learned how to google you would find out that 4600 is roughly 10-15% improvement over hd 4000 work it out for yourself.

That lenovo post didn't really have effective benchmarks on it.

Did you scroll down to see 3dm scores?

Do it yourself mate :slap:

I see the 3dm now.

Lesse, notebookcheck says 4700mq with hd4600 gets icestorm of 50k roughly, while 740m gk208 gets 56k

Cloudgate test shows 5453 on 740m vs hd4600 at 6552

HP offers the 740m in their 15t-j000 customizable laptops, and I'm trying to determine if I should get the 740m gk208 model or the basic intel model.

I like the structure and external hardware (touchpad, keyboard, screen etc) of the envy 15t.

No matter how nice it looks it's an HP - good luck getting it to last past warranty LOL
