I recommend you read Dave's OC guide here on TPU.

My first one wouldn't hit 4.4GHz stable no matter what...actually 4.2 was never stable. It would hit the 80s or 90s under heavy loads. My second one hits 4.5 @ 1.24v and loads in the 70's during stress testing under my Noctua U14S.

YMMV applies greatly here. Pretty much might hit it, and if it does, could take up to 1.30v+. Voltage will kill these chips, not temps...they will throttle at 100C.

Well i have mine on 4.4Ghz on 1.18v adaptive but read you shouldn't run prime under adaptive voltage setting.

I finally took the dive and switched back over to intel. I have a 4770k as well but it is under H2O. I am at 4.0 with 1.18v to the CPU. Idle is usually low-mid 30s but load gets into the low-mid 60s. Do these temps sound normal for H2O and haswell? I am very green to the haswell scene, but I have heard they run hot. I just want to make sure I'm safe. *DISCLAIMER* Not attempting to thread jack lol.

You should run fixed otherwise your voltage will likely increase on load.

With fixed it will stay the same and likely keep temps down.

All chips are different. One might do 1.1v for 4.4ghz another 1.4v.

It really depends on the luck of the chip.

With Haswell, delidding and or lapping makes a big difference on temps.

But of course with delidding, you could kill the chip If you don't know what your doing.. lapping is the best for a newbie.. but you lose your warranty.. but you usually gain cooling ability.
