Will Crossfire HD 7850 2GB be bottlenecked by Phenom II X6 1055T?

I can get a second 7850 pretty cheap but would I be bottlenecked at 1080p with a stock 1055T?

Okay good

I wish I could know up to what point my CPU would bottleneck me or had a higher resolution monitor so it wouldn't be an issue. I might wait til next year and pick up an r9 290(x) though.

Games in which CPU is issuing draw calls to GPU on a single thread (all DX9 and some DX11 games) are more sensitive to CPU bottlenecks when number of draw calls gets too high ... good example are some open world games with huge draw distance set in options. In any case you will often have options in game to scale back to reduce CPU bottleneck if one exists.

So you reckon modern games should be fine then? sick I was looking at a 7970 but I'm reading my potential 7850 would be even faster than that. Does one card power off in Crossfire when it's not being used btw?

You would be better off on a single 7970 with an Amd cpu, intel cpus are better for sli-Xfire.

When I ran 6950 cfx on my 1090t @4ghz, it was slightly bottlenecked, and when I went to my 2600k, I saw a nice little performance bump. Looks like the 7850 is above the 6950, so you would likely have a little bottleneck. It should still be a decent setup, but I'd go with Outback's idea of a single card alternative

just jumping in to say i ran 5870 crossfire and now a 7970 at 1.1GHz, and my 1090t doesnt bottleneck me at all.

i do highly recommend some mild OCing of your CPU however, i've merely upped mine to 3.6GHz (the standard turbo clocks)

I would sell your current HD7850 & go for a HD7970 & try to overclock your CPU if you can :toast:
