I've been using an Antec Kuhler 620 but I started hearing some noise from it tonight. I thought at first a fan was going out so I shut down and cleaned the fans out. But after powering back up I immediately got an overheating error. I shut back down and cleaned the old thermal paste off and reapplied it. The temps stayed down for a few minutes but built back up quickly and I could still hear some noise. Looking it up it sounds like the pump failed, I am just hoping that the proc is still okay.

I have an Asus Sabertooth P67 mobo and was hoping I could get some recommendations for a replacement. Nothing is overclocked currently so I don't know that I need to replace it with a similar cooler. I wish I still had the original cooler to test with.

I think I saw a Corsair H80i for $50 on Newegg, that is an awesome cooler for that price.

If you can find an H80i for $50, that's a great deal. Are you looking for a small AIO cooler again? If not, since you're running a 2600k at stock clocks, you could grab a cheap Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO

Money is a little tight at the moment so that Cooler Master is looking good. I think it will just fit in my case under the side fan.

I threw one in my bro's pc on a 3570k. I even crunched with it before handing it over and it handled the temps like a champ, no sweat. You'll be in even better shape since SB doesn't get as hot as IVB

Using a i7 2600k myself and an Antec Kuhler 920. Been using it for 2 years. The fan start spinning with sound (something like "te te te te te te te" at random occasions, even at silent speed. You might consider oiling the fan.

My Corsair H60 with a 2nd fan added for push/pull keeps my 2600k OC'ed to 4.5ghx running full load 24/7 in the 60-70'c temp range.

The fan is still spinning nicely, the noise is definitely coming from the housing over the cpu. I have had it around two years and some change as well up to yesterday it was completely silent. I am really hoping that I shut the system down in time.

Just for giggles, lay the case on its side and run the cooler for a few minutes. This will make sure that that isn't just an air bubble in the head unit.

That actually did silence the unit. Heat is still building up within a few minutes though. I am going to check the thermal paste and make sure I didn't over or under due it.

If after checking the mating, it still warms up, it does indeed sound like maybe the pump was on its way out.

I definitely over tightened had a nice bald spot in the middle. The sides looked like a messy pb&j and I am out of paste until Monday. Gods, it took 20 minutes to clean that mess up.

It may be that your IHS is a bit round. With all and every AIO I test, I mount the hardware until it stops. I never leave anything loose. If this were a 1366 chip maybe, but on my 2600K, 3770K, or my 4770K too much pressure has never been an issue.

We'll I gave the 620 another shot but it was still overheating. I pulled it and installed the Hyper 212 which has stayed between 27 and 28 for the last 10 minutes. I will monitor it another 20 minutes or so and if no change in temp occurs I will see if the side panel still fits, heh.

The bios don't seem to like my choice of a quiet fan. It looks like it wants more rpm's so I may have to swap that out.

-edit-

I changed the CPU fan alarm from 600 to 400 rpm's. I will just have to monitor temps for a while and if this fan doesn't cut it go back to the original it shipped with.

So far so good, it was a little tighter then I would have liked. But the side panel will close though I think I will need to leave that fan off on the panel.

But I am back up and running the system is not overheating and I spent less than $40. All pluses in my book, thank you all for the help and suggestions.
