Hi Guys,

I'm planning on purchasing a WC system for my system specs on the left. I am wondering whether the below picture is the best I can get in terms of performance as I do not want to purchase it and then find my temps to be similar to my H100i :(. Also am I missing anything? this will be the second time I've touched water-cooling with the first being a budget kit which didn't give me much hands on experience. Any help appreciated!

Your link is broken. What OC are you getting with what temps with your H100i?

Hi I'm getting about mid 70's when I prime for an hour with fans on max. Standard usage I get 50-60's at my current clocks. The OC is the same as the cpu-z validator on my signature. 4.6ghz at 1.247vcore-1.252vc offset (load)

I don't think you'll get much better temperatures honestly, CPUs have always lagged behind in having good benefits from watercooling.

Are you delidded by any chance?

Your GPU will see an humongous drop in load temperatures though.

Not delidded just got this CPU yesterday lol.

EDIT: So I assume the watercooling kit is considered a high-end custom loop?

Well then your main issue will probably be transferring the generated heat to your waterblock more than your cooling solution ability to cope with that.

But by all means go for a custom loop, you'll see gains everywhere (fun involved comprehended) :toast:

Yeah I may delid my cpu depending how well this will cool it down. Guess I'll give it a go since my case is long overdue on a water loop and would be nice to have my case quieter and my 780ti pushing the OC limits

I'll give you a simple example with my own older system:

i7 930 4.2ghz at 1.36v:
-Corsair H100 (not i) with push+pull SP120 fans at 1200rpm: highest core prime95 temp = 81c
-Custom loop with 280mm HWlabs SR1 + 120mm SR1 both with only push fans (noiseblockers blacksilentpro), D5 vario at 4k rpm, water as fluid and Heatkiller CPU block: highest core prime95 temp = 73c and that includes an overclocked 7970 in the loop (that reaches 45c max in games).

Do you NEED a custom WC loop when your H100i is doing 70c max at 4.6ghz?

No you don't because 70c is way below limit, unless:
1) You want to WC the GPU
2) Your CPU can go above 5Ghz because you have a good chip, but the H100i can't keep up with temps at that voltage
3) You like a custom WC loop and want to spend money
4) You want a system with zero noise, cause the D5 pump and some 1000rpm good fans will do the job in the custom WC case.

All of the above :D. Once I spend big on it I can carry parts here and there to a new build into the future making it cheaper for me later on as well. I definitely do not think it's something I need though but considering the parts I've bought I've got this itch saying a H100i is just not good enough lol.

Well it was surely a very fun and rewarding experience for me to install a custom WC loop in a small pc case, it also had its moments of frustration but the multi rotary and angled bitspower fittings saved the day. At the end, I like seeing what I've done every day on my desk but it has 0 impact on the performance and longevity of the components. It surely is a dead silent PC now though.
