Hey, just wanted to know because it seems be turning this thread into a VS thread? Why can't people just get both(all eventually)? I like my pc for certain games and when a game is extremely cheap on the pc vs a console I will get it on whichever is cheaper. Specs aside cause I think putting what you want in a PC vs something you have to live with, well theres no competition I don't understand why a lot of it is being compared. I have seen people comparing games on the ps4 to PC and comments go something like "ps4 has no anti aliasing" and my comment to everyone that notices that is.....YOU ACTUALLY NOTICE THAT?! Cause I really can't see it when I am playing a game.

Sorry, I need to let that out cause it feels almost pointless to compare them.

PS Killzone Shadow Fall is pretty damn awesome! As is Ryse so far.

I'm going to get both consoles since I don't want to miss a single moment from the best exclusives being released on both Xbone and PS4, although I may hold off on the Xbone since the only exclusive I can see which may warrant a purchase is Titanfall... but I have a PC so.......

Ryse was not bad but the story was so so from what I have heard but after playing Shadow Fall for a while the game does look pretty nice but killzone feels more like a huge tech demo with half decent multiplayer and I hate that thats the way many big budget shooters are now, with horribly forgettable campaigns and then defending the bad campaign by saying go play multiplayer.

Well I guess I should have voted BOTH as I picked up a Xbox One yesterday to go with my week old PS4.

I also sold one of my PS3's yesterday. Need to sell one of my 360's as well.

Reading through the past couple pages I learned a couple things. One is I do not respect Eric_Cartman's opinion. Jesus christ you can't base your judgements off of youtube videos. You need to see these consoles in action. Some games look better than other games just like on the PC. I can't take anything he says seriously if he has never even used the consoles. Thats like me giving a bad review on a camera that i don't own because the uploaded pictures Ive seen online don't look as good as I thought they should....sheesh.

Let me tell everyone something....The Xbox One and PS4 graphics look awesome compared to the 360 and PS3. They look like PC graphics for the most part. I am not seeing any 'jaggies' while I'm gaming. Not saying that some games don't suffer from this a little but the ones I have do not. Now the 360 and PS3 suffer from jaggies badly, especially the older games while the newer ones do look better.

The XBone and PS4 look way better TO ME. I'd like to add that I love gaming on my PC even more than on consoles. I want PC games to always be a step ahead. But the games I have right now for both the new consoles look great and as time goes by they will look better and better just like any console life cycle.

Yup, I don't respect his opinion either. Not with such ignorance spouted off as fact - and with some much ranting and accusations of others' alleged stupidity. :shadedshu: No wonder my response to him was condescending in the extreme. I notice that he hasn't dared reply to it, lol.

Even though I'm a committed PC gamer and would never by a console myself, I can still see the merits of someone owning a console and would be curious to see first hand how they work and perform. I certainly don't have the idiotic attitude of putting down someone for having a console. I'm especially interested in trying out one of those Wii games with the movement controller thingy. :)

I don't see anything about concrete sales numbers in that article, all it says is the xbox one is "leading" and microsoft has not confirmed anything besides the one million at launch I think.

Yeah, the comments under that article think so too and I agree. Doesn't matter, it gives us something to talk about.

It's not one I would use as a basis of one of my articles, I assure you. ;)

I was just playing a few rounds of Forza 5 and really paying attention to the graphics....(meaning my driving suffered badly lol) and I just can't fault the visuals at all. I have pc racing sim games that don't look this nice. Its just beautiful.

From what I'm seeing online and in my local area...it seems that the PS4 is completely sold out till god knows when. The Xbox One on the other hand I have found in several stores. After work today I stopped by Toys R Us to get something for my daughter and they had 4 XBones on their shelf still. I wonder if Microsoft just shipped out more units than Sony did or if the demand just isn't as strong as it is for the PS4...?

TBH I bought all the games I wanted for both systems in the past week. I am having a hard time deciding which one to play through first as they are all so good, (so far). decisions, decisions...

haha that sucks. Yeah I have to admit I'm pretty happy that I was able to find the Xbox One this past Monday because I didn't want to wait till next year or pay inflated prices on craigslist.

I was tempted for all of 10 seconds to buy 3 Xbox Ones last Monday thinking I could make a nice little profit selling them but then I told myself I'm not one of those bastards, bought my console and went home.

Just bought an xbox one on amazon... $800's later I have the system, a second controller, fifa/cod/ryse on the way and should be here monday (my friday)..

Hoping I don't regret my decision of sticking with microsoft.. cause god damn whoever says consoles are cheaper than pc's needs to be punched in the face.

Software Argh, Windows 10. I hated Windows 7. I hate Windows 10 more. Give me back XP!!!
eric, you really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? lol.

I'll try just this once to explain it to you.

First of all, who are you callng a console fanboy? Do you see what rig I have in my specs and do you see which way I voted in my poll? Here, I'll make it easy for you: I've got a high end gaming rig and I voted neither - PC gamer. "Console fanboy". lol  Oh and I don't own a console.

Framerate most certainly does affect image quality. Juddery animation looks shit. End of story. Why do you think gamers spend big bucks on high end rigs with fancy graphics cards like twin GTX 580s in mine? To get rid of it, that's why. And to get rid of it while having the rendering quality turned up, of course.

Everything on YT is juddery to one degree or another and hence looks bad to some degree. Seems to be caused by Flash itself as far as I can see.

Of course the compression is applied to PC and console video recordings and I addressed that. Also, how do you know that any two recordings were processed the same? This would apply when the original recording was made and also to YT, depending on their compression policies. Quite likely they were not, creating different artifacts.

Just to make it really clear to you, the compression will significantly reduce the quality of both PC and console recordings. Now, the exact way it interacts with the image artifacts in each machine's output (they're always there to some degree, even with the finest pictures) will lead to different subjective degradations. Of course, we know console will look worse than PC as a starting point, so introducing ugly compression artifacts can make that picture look like shit, whereas if you viewed that console picture on the TV/monitor it was intended for it could look quite acceptable and maybe even decent. As the PC picture is likely to be "very nice" on a high end rig with the quality turned up, those same compression artifacts may look a lot less objectionable. It's not rocket science, my friend.

And as far as those jaggies are concerned, yes they're there, but again, the compression artifacts can make them look subjectively worse than if you saw the thing directly for the reasons I described above.

Come back to me when you've compared PC and console (either brand) directly on a TV/monitor as that's when you stand a chance of knowing what you're talking about.

If you actually read my posts you'd see I was comparing footage IN THE SAME YOUTUBE VIDEO PROCESSED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.

Besides that, I never said I haven't seen the consoles in person, you made that assumption.

I was using that youtube video as an example to back up my points.

You on the other hand haven't done anything to back up your console fanboy points, by the way.

I've seen the consoles in person, side by side playing BF4.

They still look like garbage compared to a $500 PC.

I just built an APU system for a friend that owns the latest gen consoles, it was $350.

It plays everything at 1080p, something the consoles can't even manage.

Just the fact that they are rendering at a higher resolution makes the games look so much nicer.

There are so many more jaggies on the consoles compared to his PC.

And he had an Xbox One, he returned it after I made his computer for him.

He was disgusted that he wasted $500 on that pill of trash.

You built an APU system that plays everything at 1080p? You sound like a troll cannot possibly be serious.

Unless to you "plays" = the game starts.

My neighbor just got a PS4. I tried Killzone SF and AC IV on it a bit. Graphics look great and seems to play without noticeable lag, though he's not gotten to the parts that can cause lag yet in AC IV, like boarding large ships with a big crew with lots of AI action, smoke, weather effects, etc. I have noticed in one fairly simple mission early on where two guys you have to tail were walking extremely slowly though. Didn't seem like hardware lag, maybe just a patch needed for the PS4 version.

He's never played an AC game before and wasn't used to having to carefully avoid brushing into ladders and such in narrow alleyways, so I helped him on the part early in the game where you have to run after a thief. To my surprise despite sucking with gamepads and the character steering response being somewhat slower than with KB/M, I managed to get him past that part. If it weren't for this being one game that actually does do a slow but adequate job of centering the camera behind you when you run via just using the nav stick without the aim stick, I'd have failed at it myself.

It made me think of the Steam Machine though, and whether it's claimed more digital speed track pads would allow more precise movement in such situations. Clearly analog sticks are outdated on speed and precision. He mentioned they were too expensive, bringing up a $1400 one he read about, but I told him about the $500 one that is more powerful than an Xone or PS4.

I'm not sure title support matters much anymore on consoles. They're not launching with a lot of exclusives anymore. Seems 90% of the games you'll end up playing will be multi plat. It's looking like Steam Machine will be fairly competitive, cutting through the hype and just offering value, performance, and versatility.
