AM3+ MB

Hey guys i need help to chose my new MB
I found 3 mb that are on sale;

The 990XA MSI is probably best at providing a higher stable overclock.

But the Asus Sabertooth 990FX is my favourite AM3+ board in existence. Not even my V Formula gets as much love.

tbh I wouldn't get any of those motherboards for overclocking. the best on paper out of them choices is the MSI, then the asus.

but all of them ive heard bad things for overclocking

if you can find a cheap asus sabertooth, youll do better than any other mobo

edit: especially if wanting an FX8 core!

What do you mean unstable? What does it do?

when i bump up the ram voltage , i cant do anything with cpu voltage , it crash after 2 min if oc cpu, and for cpu anything over 1.33 or 1.36 volt its unstable ... if u understand what i mean , my english is not very god

I understand, seems like your current motherboard doesn't supply the attached components with much more than stock voltage.
Or a severe lack of VRM cooling.

but yea, I wouldn't choose any of them mobos, never the ud3 or M5 and msi hasn't got much of an reputation with that mobo.

if it were me I would wait!

if running an 8 core cpu, you need the quality components for overclocking and maintaining stability. the phase designs on your list aren't the best tbh, im always seeing horror stories or people moaning about their below par oc's.

that motherboard you have is weak, its worse than weak for 6/8 cores

edit: 990fx is never than 970fx, I don't see how/why to buy an old chipset and the northbridge has little or nil effect on overclocks, 990fx is newer and more well designed as is the phases etc

Holy crap that DS3 is bad xD Wait for a sabertooth, then you can clock your shiny new FX 8 core to kingdom come.

EDIT: That DS3 only has a 4 pin, no wonder you can't OC.

i have a nice coler master cooler , the temp never go above 36c @ 4.2ghz. And is there a big diference bettwen 83**series and 9*** series ? or it is just clock speed?

Just clock speed, though the chips are probably binned to clock on lower than average voltages.

I too will vouch for the Sabertooth.
Great board that's not too complicated to configure and you can squeeze some great clocks from it. Mine happens to be the R2.0 version of the series that I purchased as an "Open Box" item and got it cheaper that way. No complaints here since it delivers the goods when asked. For the money, I'd have to say it's one of if not the best you can do without jumping up to the likes of the CHV boards.

To give an idea about it, the Sabertooth is like a "CHV lite" kind of board, all the performance without all the bells and whistles the CHV's have and that includes the pricetag.
