PSU different brands but same OEM. Is it the same?

I'm between a XFX Pro Series 1050W and a Seasonic X-1050.
Apparently the XFX is based on the Seasonic x-1050 and the XFX is like 10$ cheaper. Other than different fans and different metal box, is there any difference between those?
Could the xfx have made improvements or disimprovemnts?

but i think well known brand wont compromise their quality to get lower sell price

they could change the model or brands of capacitors, wiring, sleeving, etc. unfortunately im not sure anyone here can tell you what they did change.

OEM often have shorter warranty and don't come in a retail box.

Not for PSUs. they usually come in a rebranded retail box and with their own warranty. sometimes longer than the original warranty

You can buy either both are solid units

When comparing Seasonic/XFX high end PSU's with high output, you most always see a marginal decrease in quality from the XFX branded units simply because they do cut one or two corners, but in perspective this brings a minimal loss, and I mean really minimal, take a look at Jonny Guru's review of the XFX Pro Series 1000W Black Edition unit, the review makes comparison with Seasonic's branded unit, the Seasonic is slightly better, if it was me and there was only a $10 difference I would take the Seasonic as there should actually be a 40 - 50 dollar difference.

Don't know why you think that but it's not true.
OEM do not come in a retail package because they are OEM and intended to be used in brand systems (HP/DELL/Gateway etc) doesn't really matter what hardware component it is.

And OEM warranties are usually shorter, because only the Manufacturers warranty applies not the retailers as well. I mean at Fujitsu we could offer a warranty over and above what the manufacturer could offer, but only if it was sold as one of our systems.


Heck just look on NewEgg or any other retail store selling oem gear if you don't believe me.....

For a $10 difference, just pick the one that has the better warranty. It's ironic that I would say to go with Seasonic considering I'm going through an RMA process with them right now, though I would still recommend it over the XFX. Check Amazon for stock... you always pay more with newegg anyways.
