I think something is going to come out whether it's a 790 or something like a Titan Ultra because something is going to need to fill the gap between now and the 8 series as the "king" card, and the Titan is aging in its current $1k spot.

Will whatever comes out be worth the money vs performance? Probably not, but Nvidia is always going to have a card to cater to the upper computer elitists whether the performance is worth the price because there is a big market for consumers who simply want "the best". I'm quite interested to see what they may come out with because it may drive some prices down.

Always seems pointless to buy beyond a $400 card just in my experience. Each generation or two completely stomps the last.

don't forget that Nvidia could compensate the lack of bus and rop with an increase in memory speed, just like Gtx 780 vs 780Ti
320 x 7000 = 2240000
384 x 6000 = 2304000

so just 2% difference

the 780 of nvidia does not have new things like the latest r290 of ati aka Mantle with its asm coding or the new trueaudio .
i have no idea what they are but i feel the r390 with 2 gpu will be a killer at all levels :]
price of 780 compared to r290x already being one

Hell on Newegg the 290 is $100-150 higher than its launch price

290 X is priced closer to the 780 Ti which eats its lunch

at ldlc.com , the HIS 290 is at 340 euro , the PNY 780 at 450 and a lot are at 460 , the HIS 290X is at 460 ...Gainward 780 ti is at 600 euro . the asus titan is at 890 .
