High end systems can be really annoying to setup..today was no different.

Went over to buddy's house to put together his X79 build. Figured it'd only take maybe a hour at most to get everything put in and done right? but the computer had different ideas. 12 hours of lots of swear words, lots of "why are you doing this", lots of "please work now" and lots of conquering.

From first power on, it threw every problem at the book at us. the Kraken's pump wouldnt run...and we finally realized pump power has to come directly from the kraken's fan hookups, not the motherboard header

then windows install issues, converting from MBR to GPT in Gparted then doing it again b/c it wanted MBR not GPT.... ?!?!

Then windows install wouldnt allow us to install to ANY one of the hard drives, citing that maybe i should check if my devices controller was turned on in the BIOS. so that was another problem that needed fixing

and then for some reason all but one of the 3TB hard drives stopped recognizing in the Intel RAID manager, so that took time to troubleshoot and fix..

Then in windows the 7.7 TB RAID array showed as 750GB for each one..even with all 3 drives as a GPT table. Realized it must be IRST that needs updating, but that wouldnt install, so that had to be troubleshot and then fixed. it finally now shows 7.7TB

But many many hours later, it's all ready to go and my buds finally part of us PC Master Race people. tomorrow afternoon we're gonna hit up some Assassins Creed Black Flag and enjoy the hell out of his new baby!

Well those kinds of "problems" will propably always stay on the pc platform. But to be honest those are the times I enjoy the most, because you are forced to learn something new or finding new ways to make it work. Not like consoles just simply turn on power button, play game and turn it off again, that is rather boring imho. Anyway say welcome to our new pc masterrace brother.

I was too actually, with my P9X79 WS. maybe today was just one of those days.

True enough. It was a good flex of both of our knowledge.
