this tool works great on my 7870 like i said before.
but i have a question, would it be possible to add support for 6000 series cards too ?
i want to modify the bios of my 6850 in my other computer, i allready tested RBE 1.28, it reads the bios perfect, but whenever i change something and reboot, the card stays the same, no mather what i do.
its not the clocks i want to change, but rather the fan table, but it doesn't work.

VBE works fine for my 7870, to bad it does not support my 6850.

When loading an original BIOS:
UEFI image detected!
Modifications only affect the legacy BIOS, UEFI part will be disabled.

What do I do?
What does it mean?
What effects does this have?

It's an R9 280x
(MSI R9 280X GAMING 3G (series 057))

VBE7 disables UEFI part by changing oprom indicator of BIOS part to "last image".
You won't be able to boot in UEFI mode after flashing the card with modified ROM.

Can some BIOS clock states not be changed?

7950 here, modded bios with VBE7 tool. I'd like to keep my memory clocks at 1675mhz across all states so I don't have to deal with the flickering madness that bizarrely still exists after all these years when changing clock states.

In VBE7, however, it won't let me change the clocks on either of the first two states (under the "Performance" section). Whenever I try, the values get automatically reset to 300/150mhz (#1) and 510/1250mhz (#2). I'm able to change state #3 and #0 (the last/bottom state), however.

Without having to resort to Afterburner or some third party software running constantly, how can I change the default clock state memory speed of 150mhz to 1675mhz?

Ask yourself these questions:
-Can I afford a new notebook/laptop?
-Can I afford repairs and shipping? [warranty is viod once flashed]
-Have I made a backup of the vbios image?
-Do I understand Blind Flashing [flashing at DOS prompt with no image on screen]

on a side note: all the goodness of uefi would also be disabled if flashed

Advice: - Do-Not Flash

I am a little confused  armed with all this knowlage and skill required for the above. Why the question was asked in #606

Dont forget to keep an eye on temps and stability test OC before flashing
best of luck:toast:

Well, normally i just flash the vbios and hope that it works. But this is a brand new laptop so i'm a little more careful, you never know. There could also somebody that reacts that this program will brick the bios of the 8970m so i should never do this. Well, i modded my 8970m bios with this tool now and i sent the bios to somebody that can verify it if it will work or not. I will let you guys know if it is going to work or not. I just like doing my research before i change things on expensive stuff.

Hello guys,

I have a question about my msi r9 280x.
Within MSI afterburner i found a nice oc of 1070/1625 to run stable while gaming.
I would like to flash this as default on the card by editing the bios of the card.
Here is the tricky part of it, when installing the drivers from the cd there whas a MSi app installed called gaming app.
Within this app i can choose gaming mode or OC mode, i always tried the oc(1570/1625) when the oc mode whas enabled from the gaming app.
By default MSi OC mode is 1050/1500 but im geussing the use a higher voltage for it then the regular gaming mode.
I cant seem to find the settings where the OC mode is stored as none of the options state the 1050/1500 speeds.
Any ideas how i can find the right voltages wich need to be applied so i keep the stability:)
When i have the OC mode on and the overclock running at 1070/1625 temps wont go above 68c wich seems pretty fine:)
I attach the stock bios and a picture wich shows the MSI OC mode.
Hope some one can help me with this one, in the end i want it to run 1070/1625 when needed at the right voltage(only have a 550w psu and my amd phenom 1100t is also oc'd).
When it isnt needed i want it to run slower and silent like it does now:)
Knipsel.PNG

Edit: well after some playing arround i found the settings i wanted with MSi Kombuster.
Edited the Bios file wich im gonna flash and hopefully everything will go alright.
Attached the modified bios here to so the posts contains the stock and modified bios.
Keep in mind not all cards are the same so my settings could cause trouble on other MSI cards.

Hi all!

1st, sorry for my english! :) So, i have an Asus 7870 DirectCU II (HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2) and when i use only one display (on DVI, on hdmi not matters) , i get green dots on the screen in 2D. If i increase the 2D voltage only by 10 from 825 to 835, everything will be fine. I made a profile in asus gpu tweak, but i'd like to change the default 2D gpu voltage in BIOS. Can somebody help me. how could i change this?

Thank u!

Excellent program, thanks to TS!
I've just flashed PowerColor 7870 Ez (tahiti) to 1.068V instead of 1.188V. So much cooler in any way :)
Valley bench passed in loop for some time+benchmark itself, no frees or crash. Good.

Guys, I apologize for this barrage, I just have a number of misconceptions about TDP, and felt it'd be better to condense and put these mini questions into one post/place, rather than sprinkling them throughout pages of thread and creating clutter.

If you can only answer a couple, feel free to only answer what you can, and as short as you want:

  • Is TDP a voltage/amperage/wattage?

  • Is it possible to view a card's current TDP levels "live" (without opening BIOS)?

  • What's the "min" TDP for? How does it factor into things and why should you care what level to set the "min" at?

  • Is TDP a limit of how much can pushed through the card, or is TDP an actual rateof what will be pushed through the card?

(i.e., is TDP like holding your hand a few feet above a kid's head and saying "Kid, this is as high as you'll be able to jump", or is it like picking the kid up and holding them up in the air at that height?)

  • Is it possible to set a TDP too high? What would happen (what would the effects be)?

Hello,
Firstly thank you for this awesome tool. I have used it succefully on many 7950s and a few R9 280X.
The only one it would not work on is the MSI R9 280x.
Although it would appear that the BIOS is changing (as reported by GPU-z) the actual voltage measured on the card with a multimeter does not change and the power usage remains the same.
I can only assume that there is something weird going on with this voltage controller.
Does anyone know if VBE7 might support this card in the future properly?
Thanks.

Which model of 7950 do you have? what voltage are you after?
It is very easy to do with this tool here.

The model in question is a Sapphire 7950 right?
I see in your modded BIOS that you have increased the voltage a little and the core frequency.
What exactly are you trying to get me to do?
The reason I posted here was that I have been unable to unlock the voltage on my MSI R9 280x and I was just commenting that I have had no trouble changing the voltages on my other cards using this tool. Thats all.
Would love to help but I am not sure what your asking me for?

Probably my fault, english is not my fav language, as i asked u some post before " im not sure about PowerTune settings.. " and if u can check if those settings are ok.
Ive just write u 'cause i saw u mod some bios for ur 7950, dont care about voltages or freq.

Sorry if i asked u, cheers

I have used this tool to under voltage my Sapphire HD 7950 11196-19-40G card's but only very few cards are working fine, others are having multiple issues like going to SICK after few minutes and card temperature not showing etc.. . The only difference i can able to find between those cards are bios versions. Please help..

Hi, guys.

I need a piece of advice.

I have Sapphire Radeon 7730 1Gb DDR3. The card works fine, but there is a kind of a problem with it. From the moment I turn on my computer and during the Windows booting, the fan of the card blows at full speed until Windows Welcome Screen appears. And that's the problem. Is there any way to reduce RPM of the fan while booting ?

I have already tried VBE7, but didn't succeed.

The card has 4 profiles: Boot, Performance, UVD and the fourth profile is without name, but I think it is 2d (Core and Memory clocks are minimum).

I tried to change the Boot profile. By default Core clock is 800, Memory clock is 900 and VDDC is 1175. I changed Core clock to 300, Memory clock to 300 and VDDC to 850 and I thought that the fan would reduce its rotations automatically, but it didn't.

So, maybe there is some other way to do what I intended. Or have I missed something?

Any help?

Thanks in advance.
