Windows 8 key troubles

When I first brought my Windows 8 product key from the MS store I was able to use that key for a clean install of the OS and now it won't, apparently it's just an upgrade key so it says?

i brought an upgrade key myself in december last year, for the 8.1 Pro, and i never had this problem...

everytime i install it using my UK version of 8.1 Pro iso it just activates no problem.

u using a untouched msdn (microsoft tech) iso or what do u use?

i use this iso: SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_8.1_64BIT_Eng_Intl_MLF_X18-96633.ISO (it's on my Google Drive)

Yeah it's a perfectly legit ISO from MS when I actually ordered Windows 8, I've done a fresh install of the OS 3 times now since then (December 2012) and this is the first time I've encounted any kind of problem like this :/

I'm just downloading another copy from MS and going to go with another reinstall however would I be able to use my Windows 8 key on the ISO you use?

yes, no Windows 7/8 keys are language locked anymore, i got that told from Microsoft them self, so u can even install Japanese version and run without a problem ^^

So I left the Windows installing I downloaded from earlier and installed/activated without any issues at all!

... I don't know how but I always experience the stupidest of problems, I only had to reinstall because an install of BitDefender 2014 screwed with my OS and locked the drive!

or just use generic cdkey to install and then that key to activate later

the iso i got on my google drive doesn't need a serial to install, it just installs and then u activate it, when windows is started.

From the pics in the OP it looks like he is trying to activate windows after it has been installed.

yes, but that still doesn't mean that the activation can fail if it was a modded version
