Intel 335 180GB SSD - Wrote 1.3TB in two days!

My writes are at about 1.73TB now. I have no idea why. I just got the SSD too. Could it be the game Blacklight: Retribution I have on the SSD? BL:R says it runs the best on an SSD so I put it there. I can move it if that is causing the issues. I have also noticed that Windows 8.1 Pro is doing "maintenance" every day. Could it be trying to defrag my drive? It should be optimizing it instead.

Where are you getting that information. Use Crystal Disk info and post the report

Total host reads: 614GB, host writes, 1772GB, NAND writes: 468. This is really weird. Also, I checked the defrag log and Windows 8.1 defragged my SSD! It should have detected it as an SSD and only used TRIM. How much longer will my SSD be usable since over a TB was written to it?

I have not been doing any write intensive activities so I do not know what would cause this. I have recorded videos to my main drive using Nvidia Shadoewplay (I DID NOT use the auto record feature) using the manual record option but I only recorded about 10GB worth of videos.

Windows does not automatically shut off defrag. Originally it did but they change it with an update. You need to shut it off, also indexing, and windows search. Disable Superfetch and prefetch and system restore. Do not disable the page file just make it small like 2000.

Other than that dont worry about it. It will last a long time. Let it sit idle a couple of time a week so trim will run

You don't need to do any of that. Leave it alone. Only thing to need to be sure that is turned off is defrag.

I just turned off the scheduled defrag and all the other things. Is 1.7TB a huge hit to my SSD? I usually only write about 1 - 2GB to it a day.

Not a clue. But that may be your issue

You change the directory that you want it to store too.

Like, on your secondary drive, make a new file called "ShadowPlay Recordings" and then hit the button circled in red that looks like a file, and select that file you just made as the one that ShadowPlay will save recordings too.

No, writing 1.7TB (especially when the actual NAND writes are lower) alone won't have a negative effect on your SSD lifetime. http://techreport.com/review/26058/the-ssd-endurance-experiment-data-retention-after-600tb

my guess would be that the recording app is using a temp folder on the SSD, and then moving the files later.

should be fixable by moving the windows temp files to a mechanical drive.
