Okay so I'm new here and new to graphics cards. I'm wanting to upgrade my card so it will run the elder scrolls online better, my current card is this:

Graphics
Display adapter type ATI Radeon HD 5450
Total available graphics memory 3803 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 1024 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 2779 MB
Display adapter driver version 13.152.1.8000
Primary monitor resolution 1600x900
DirectX version DirectX 10

Which is what my pc came with.

I don't really understand all the specs and stuff, could someone please suggest a decent enough graphics card to handle ESO. I don't want to spend loads, so £££ is a factor, but I basically just need guidance.

Thank you

Hi. Well for starters you could fill in your full system specs so we can give you better advice. Better fill in the specs, but for starters we don't know what power supply you have or what CPU you have, and what is your budget for the new card and are there any shops or online retailers you plan on purchasing from.

Ah okay,

well my budget is around £70 :S I don't know if that will get my anything decent, and I'd be happy to order online so that gives me the option to buy from anywhere really.

I'll try fill in the specs now, to tell you the truth I don't know myself! let me find out

Well after looking at takomako's post it seem you have 2 choices
either a Geforce GTX 750 like he suggested:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-059-KF&groupid=701&catid=1914
or an AMD R7 250X
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-346-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1984
They are pretty much neck and neck:
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/inde...apphire-vapor-x-oc-edition-vs-geforce-gtx-750

Geforce GTX 750
Pros:
- Great gpu
- about 55W TDP
- since it has a small TDP doesn't produce much heat.
Cons:
- well some don't mind but i like cards that have 2 cooling fans

AMD R7 250X vapor x
Pros:
- Great gpu
- about 80W TDP
Cons:
- since it has a bigger TDP than the GTX 750 it shoud produce more heat but it has 2 fans and a vapor chamber so it has generally better cooling (i guess this should not be a con after all).

Regardless of any card you choose a good quality PSU of at least 430 W should be enough.

After reading this from the link I provided:
''GeForce GTX 750 is a fast-middle-class Graphics Card and one of the first Maxwell based GPUs.
GeForce GTX 750 offers the GM107 Core with a SMX count of 4 and thus comes with 512 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and only 16 ROPs, this on a 128-bit memory of 1GB of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 1020MHz and goes up to 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1250MHz.
GeForce GTX 750 succeeds GeForce GTX 650 and will compete directly with AMD's Radeon R7 260. The card has proven to have huge overclock potential but doing so will increase its very low TDP of just 55W.
Benchmarks indicate its performance is over 30% better than its predecessor's and surpasses largely Radeon R7 260, while factory overclocked versions will surpass the Radeon R7 260X, especially in DirectX 11 based games.''

it seems that you a would be better off with the Geforce GTX 750

Also, the 750 doesn't even require PCI-e power connection - depending on the model you get though I think. I'd go GTX 750 if it were my choice.

Thanks guys! Looks like i'll go for that one. Appropriate it!

Is fitting it easy enough? something I'll be able to do on my own?

For Skyrim and Teso i would suggest at least gtx 760, yes its not in your price range, but i leave it here with words: "Gpu is king of the Rig today".

Thanks, but it's a bit too much for what I was wanting to pay.

I'm mostly just a casual gamer, so I just want something that's gonna be better than what I have at the moment. my current ran the beta ok-ish but I would like it a bit better. I'm gonna give the one first suggested a try I think.

Meanwhile when I was a kid and my first PC... I was upgrading RAM by filling those DIP sockets...

But on the serious note... for skyrim... skyrim is not fun without mods... hefty MODS... save a bit more money and get some hefty GPU with a lot of vram... at least some 7950... you won't be disappointed....

hahah, this would basically be the first time opening up a PC so let me off.

And I only really want it to play online games, I played skyrim on console so TESO is basically all I'll be using it for.

Honestly... I am scared of online games.... i like single player only.... it is a cemetery of time otherwise... I play skyrim seldom... but still haven't even finished the main storyline for two years lol. Maybe because of the often CTD's lol.

I admit last online game I played was hawken during beta program... but that was a selfish thing... I regained my FPS skills for our local LAN party with friends... and kicked their arses :D

I have nothing to add, I just don't like my post count being at 667-1. Best of luck with the new card.
