I'm having way too many problems with this card. The card now isn't exactly flickering, but would display a black screen for a full second at a time. It's also very random and this is through HDMI. This is my second card with the first one giving me boot issues. I'm just going to return it and get something more reliable.

There goes my post, lol! :p

When you get a chance add me to the club, thanks.

Crap did not see the MSI only in the title, damn discrimination. Wait when I get home in a week I will flash my XFX to MSI BIOS.
That works lol

Hello, techpowerup.
Got mine R9 290X 4G Gaming.
There is one thing that scares me, VRM1 temperature, it goes to mountain high in BF4, (not sure about the others, BF4 is the only game i currently play) and also noticed VRM temp bumps in Heaven 4.0 and Valley 1.0 benchmarks. Usually it about 110 C, absolute maximum is 118 C.
Tried different bioses and drivers, had no luck.
Running fans at 100% all the time does help, but not much only 4-5C lower.
How to deal with it? These temps are dangerous, right?

Those VRM temps seem very high. My ref cooled 290x mining 24/7 VRM temps.

I would pop the fan off and check the factory TIM job and the thermal pad placement. You will be amazed!

Note: It will not void the warranty.

BP nothing wrong with those temps. Im pulling my coolers off both cards tomorrow to try and sort something out.
May as well wip out the camera and see what the tim looks like and then do a clean up and install some of my special tim.

I'd be very interested in seeing the tim job on those puppies. Pics please ;)

It seems the normal tim on gpus, even higher end cards, has been terrible in the last few years... at least from what I've had and from what I've seen posted.

Thanks but No, I heard it was good stuff but its either AS5 for the cpu and or both of the ICD24k stuff that a rep gave all of us here and so many issues were said to have happened. I'll be using my ICD 24 on them. I had a 5-7 c drop in temps on my reference 7970's

Here's another bench at same stock setting

3Dmark performance run

EDIT :Extreme run

I just edited the post above your head and I get you trolling in between edits lol..

Yup It may make the smallest scratches in a mirror finished water block and really I could care less. For me it took 6-7 re-applications to get a slight swirl on the EK block but can I see it? Nope, do I care? Nope!

Does it work? Yep!
Is it going to work on this cooler? I don't know! Yep hahah we'll see tomorrow.

Anybody use the DEMCiflex air filter on their cases to keep the dust out?

I got one for my 650D case and an not sure it's all that great.

Mind you I haven't changed the fans around but I see there is an air draw on the side of the rad that dust can come through.

I slapped it on and to my surprise it didn't fit like I thought it should.. but it does fit the dimensions of the case perfect. Maybe I just bitch to easy o_O

110C° VRM temps are bad because most VRM components are specced between 105 and 125C° and they all lose efficiency and performance as they get hotter and heat lowers their lifespans.

Of the ones listed, i5-3570k (and 3770) would be ideal for the PCI-Express 3.0 to cover future upgrades. However, an i5-2500k would be adequate.

Note to all Gamer card owners. Grab your little screw driver and go over all the screws on the back plate. @neliz tell the team who puts these cards together to check there torque setting.

all screws were loose, and not the ones in my head

Pictures coming shortly. New W7 install and going to be a few min till I upload them off my phone.

Stay tuned :lovetpu:
