Be quiet!, for eight years in succession PC power supply market leader in Germany*, has won three of the sought-after Red Dot Design Awards. The Power Zone power supply series, the Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler series and the Pure Wings 2 fan in 120 mm convinced the 40 members of the Red Dot jury. Henceforth these be quiet! products may be adorned with the globally recognized quality seal and they are immortalized in the Red Dot yearbook.

The goal during development of the Power Zone power supply was to provide a PSU series with the best possible combination of performance and features for gamers, CPU overclockers and PC enthusiasts, at an affordable price. The powder-coated metal surfaces of the power supply housing, which makes it appealingly tactile, also won over the Red Dot jurors. The engraved and colorful be quiet! logo rounds off the elegant visual impression. The ribbed structure of the surfaces and the balanced combination of metal and plastic components is purposely reminiscent of a car motor, because in a PC the power supply performs a similar function to a drive unit. The built-in Silent Wings fan, whose airflow optimized blades minimize noise-generating turbulences, is also sure to have appealed. The power supplies are energy saving and environment friendly with an extremely low stand-by power need and 80PLUS Bronze efficiency certification. In addition, completely detachable and sleeved cables enhance the handling convenience and simplify component installation.

Car motor as model
The Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler series also exhibits design similarities to the inner workings of a car. The top cover particularly stands out in this regard, with its machined diamond cut and hand-finished brushed aluminum caps. The high-grade appearance is further enhanced by a double nickel-plated heat sink and highly hand-polished base plate. The series is available in single and double tower versions and is perfectly suited for optimal cooling of high-performance CPUs with an almost inaudible operation. The quiet-running six-pole motor contributes largely to this.

Memorable details
The Pure Wings 2 120mm fan impressed the jurors with its combination of low weight and high stability. Like all be quiet! products the fans were designed and conceived in Germany and with their nine airflow optimized fan blades offer elevated levels of cooling performance. At the same time the blades effectively reduce the turbulences that give rise to vibrations. The fan generates a maximum of only 18.8 dB(A) at its highest rotational speed. High-quality rifle-bearing technology contributes to its very long lifespan of 80,000 hours.

One of the greatest product competitions in the world
This year 1,816 manufacturers, designers and architects from 53 countries entered their products and projects into the race for the Red Dot quality seal. In a process taking several days, the 40 members of the Red Dot jury tested, discussed and evaluated the 4,815 designs. The award ceremony of the coveted "Red Dots" takes place July 7, 2014 at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen.

"These Red Dot Awards provide us with further confirmation that it pays to design and develop our products in Germany", said Stanislav Minkin, Managing Director of Listan GmbH & Co. KG.

It's sad when the determining criteria for a PC hardware award is the exterior finish of the PSU. These awards and $5 will get you a $2 cup of coffee.
